ParticipantI will toast you all from my bikeshare bike in Madrid. Hope to see you at FSLNHPP 2025!

ParticipantMine arrived today!

ParticipantYes, that’s the reference, but if people are unable to use a web search, my summary gets the important part

ParticipantRule 9 is that humans are mostly waterproof (I type from the bus on the way to happy hour. I DID my ride already)

ParticipantUsed the Target Wrangler pants with tights underneath today. They worked well, though they couldn’t keep up with the water from my un-fendered bike.

ParticipantThe Friends leaderboard is anyone in the current year Strava group but NOT on one of the competitive teams. Since there are not competitive teams yet, EVERYONE is in the Strava group and NO ONE is on a competitive team so there is no one on the Friends leaderboard.
The purpose of the leaderboard is to make the Friends feel included – as if they are part of the fun if not the competition. Perhaps the following year, they will be so inspired by BAFS that they will join! Or they will heal from their injury or finish school or whatever kept them from competing this year will no longer be a barrier

Participant- Is there a way to report spam? I couldn’t find it, though it looks like you already got the post I was going to report
- Are you going to change “Participant” to the whimsical tags of the old site?

These Wrangler pants from Target. Ain’t as good as my fancy pants, but have lasted me a couple of years, and are unbeatable for the price ($30 retail, but I picked up a couple pairs for $20 on sale a couple of years ago!)
$30 is what I’m looking for, thank you. I just ordered a pair of these for pickup tomorrow. I don’t NEED fancy pants, I just need pants to bike in.

The forecast (for what it’s worth this far out) says steady rain all day. I may be on the Metro.
I will consult The Cabal on how many demerit points to award for taking Metro to a Freezing Saddles event to avoid bad weather

ParticipantGoogle Maps is, unfortunately, accurate. There are a couple of railings that in summer would be used to get to outdoor seating but in winter are merely decorative. I suspect this is where people will end up locking bikes. Expect to lock to someone else’s bike. I may end up getting my ride in earlier then taking the bus, but that may not be a good option for you.

ParticipantI plan to be there and will try to bring the wife as well.
Bike parking is likely not great. I’ll be in that general area this afternoon and will try to remember to check it out. Probably a lot of sign posts and a few racks covered in rental scooters

One key part of taking a kid somewhere and dropping them off is remembering to stop the Strava to tag them on their part of the ride and then *restart* it again to capture the rest of your ride. Nothing like riding a bunch of miles and realizing that you forgot to hit start again.
Note you can also split a ride (Click the ride at strava.com, then the 3 dot menu at the left has “split”). Then you can tag the kid in just the relevant part

ParticipantI have a pair of Swrve jeans. They are ok but not as good as the Betabrands were or as the DU/ER jeans I have, which are fantastic but haven’t held up well at all.
I’ll look at the REI pants – I’m just worried about cuffing them.
