ParticipantLast year I was on a team chosen by my zip code. It was awful. I think I’ve been on DC-based teams twice, and both times finished dead last. Last year we were out of the competition by February. I know balancing the teams is an enormously difficult task, and I don’t want to make it harder, but all-city teams just don’t work.

ParticipantI agree. Absolutely awful. I want to ride with the Virginia mamils. Not these city kids

ParticipantI would suggest sending an e-mail through the contact form. That will get your request to the people in charge of team assignments.

ParticipantI just heard back from the relevant members of the Cabal, and we’re allowing this. I have opted out of Zip code based teams for the two of you. Anyone who signs up in future will be given this option. Anyone who has already signed up but now wants to opt out of being assigned by Zip code can use the contact form to let us know.

ParticipantReally, the first ten city slickers who opt out should get put in a non-zip code team together, as a lesson to us all.

ParticipantI still want out. Put me on a team with a couple of lunatic Loudon county supercommuters. Throw in a PG County exurb resident or two, LFG

Participant@jrenaut, I can confirm you are out of Zip code based team assignments, because I deleted your Zip code from your registration. I make no promises, however, as to which
lunaticsparticipants will be on your team.December 4, 2024 at 3:45 pm #1135142Mike R
ParticipantI’m happy to be on a team with others in or near my zip code.
Newbie questions:
1. do I need to take any action myself to get assigned to a team?
2. how do i discover my team assignment?
3. When i registered, i said i’d volunteer to help assign riders to teams–lemme know if you need me and how to help
thanks!

Participant- You will automatically be assigned to a team.
- You’ll find out which team at the opening happy hour. Or if you can’t attend that, you’ll find out from an e-mail from your team captain the day after the happy hour. Or if that goes to spam, you can check the forum the day after the happy hour. You’ll just need to join the appropriate Strava club for your team then.
- The success screen you got after registering and the confirmation e-mail both said that if you were volunteering for a function that required coordination with someone else, you should use the contact form to figure out whom to coordinate with for that function. This is one of the functions referenced.
Welcome to Freezing Saddles, and thanks for volunteering!
