I believe Team 3 is Lentement mais Sûrement, in which case you’d need to go to http://www.strava.com/clubs/46418 and click the button to request to join.

I don’t typically need to use my phone for entering rides, since I have a Garmin. However, when I have needed to use the phone for that purpose, I’ve put it in a cradle that attaches to my handlebars. That way I can use it for:

    • Entering rides.
    • GPS navigation.
    • Knowing when my phone is ringing, so I can pull over and answer it.
    • Seeing when text messages and e-mails come in, so I can check them at the next stop.

The one I use is the Delta Smartphone Holder, but similar holders are available for other types of phones.

I put on my left hand glove, then start strava, then put my phone in my back pocket, then put on my right hand glove, then ride.

Way easier than manual data entry.

So, does the photo have to include both first and last names, or just last? I’m thinking, for example, that since there is no John Adams memorial, the contest may be quite short if we have to find something with “John Adams” in it. On the other hand, the Washington Marina doesn’t include “George” in it. If the last name is enough, I’m sure we could find plenty of things around here that had just “Adams” in them.

And is “could be perceived to represent” broad enough to include things not actually named after a President, but after someone else with the same surname?

We not only connected on our Strava page, but connected in person with a happy hour this evening. (The last bridge was crossed on the way to the happy hour.) Thanks for fostering the connection!

Congrats team 2 Sloppy seconds for completing FSSB#2!
I hope this gave you a chance to connect on your strava page, and learn where your teammates are coming from. For some of you you found a new way into or out of the city. For everyone else fear not there will be a more challenging FSSB in the future.

Ooh! I thought I wanted to be the Queen of Sleaze Rides, but Queen of Sordid Bicycling sounds even better!

How could the People’s Republic of Montgomery County possibly be anywhere other than the left side?

The Y is my favorite sleaze ride. It’s about one and a third miles round-trip. And on bad days, I can bike there for the points, then get the real exercise in the gym.

Of course today, I wondered why we bothered with bridges over the Potomac at all. I could pretty much have ridden my bike across at any random point.

Tell me about it! I’ve ended up having to make a special trip from Bethesda to either the South Capitol Street Bridge or the Pennsylvania Avenue SE Bridge, while all those Virginians got their bridges by just going home from work.

This was posted yesterday at this link:

Didnt register for Freezing Saddles? Envious of everyone who rode on Tuesday? Want in on the fun of hypothermia? Now is your chance?

It looks like a few people who signed up for FS have not shown up (and if you did sign up and have not shown up, show up or you will be dropped). What we will do is identify who has not shown up, what their handicap is, and then attempt to match people from the waiting list who have less than or equal to that handicap.

If you would like to be on the waiting list, send me a personal message with your strava number, your average number of rides per week and your average number of miles per week (November thru December)

No promises here but we will see what we can do.

Yes, Peter, you are #1 on the waiting list.

So apparently, they will try to put people on the waiting list onto the incomplete teams.

Terpfan, Not sure why you can’t post there, if you’re logged in. However, Wilson has been assigned to you. Can you please put the name of the bridge into the name of the ride, so we can keep track of when you’ve done it?

cyclingfool, hozn (who is doing back end stuff for this) said, “Ok, well we can adjust the definition to be a 1-2-mile ride when that is the only ride of the day.” So in your example, the second ride would not be a sleaze ride.

Of course, I’m personally Queen of the Sleaze Rides, so I’m happy to see a change that makes my title secure. ;)
