ParticipantJust an FYI – Lake Anne opens at noon on Sundays. You will get there at least an hour before they open, even if only going 10 mph.

ParticipantGot in a little snowy dirt single speed action yesterday. It was quite lovely out!

ParticipantMy biggest complaint is not being able to see what is new and unread. I also miss the link that automatically took you to the first unread comment in a thread.
I also miss the like and elite buttons.
I did really appreciate the whimsical titles we all had instead of “participant”.
That being said, I can see how this format is a lot more user friendly if folks were not used to “ye olde forums”.

ParticipantHappy to help and can wrangle additional support through Team Bikenetic if needed.

ParticipantHmm…. I love a good puzzle!
If the weather cooperates, this might be a good day for a pizza ride out in LoCo!

ParticipantOh yay! I can actually make this!
Nadine, depending on what time you want to leave (I will probably leave relatively early), I can escort you back to Falls Church.

ParticipantI have several pants from Duluth Trading Co that I have worn for biking. They have LOTS of pockets, durable enough for mountain biking, look decent off the bike, and are not stupid expensive.
These are my favs.

I will most likely forget all about this, but I will try!

Rubber gloves as first layer against your skin? I haven’t tried it yet myself, but I’ve heard of others doing that also (and keep a pair in my frame bag just in case).
I just imagine my hands getting all clammy when I start to work up a sweat, then getting cold (or yucky) because of the moisture. Do you find that at all?
This is a good way to get frost bite…. I do NOT recommend wearing a non-breathable layer next to your skin. (Sincerely, Your local neighbourhood backcountry medic…)

After taking the last several years off, I stupidly signed up for the 2024 edition of Freezing Saddles. Lord have mercy!
Same. Although I will most likely not be riding outside every day, but hoping this will help kick my butt in gear to figure out my “new normal” after a pretty life-changing injury last year.

How good is your GPS under there? Mine is about as good as it is under trees…the overall distance is _mostly_ accurate (to within 5%) but the displayed speed is up down or sideways.
Super easy (and relatively inexpensive) solution to less than stellar GPS/Glonass signal is a wheel sensor paired to your GPS unit. Works like a charm for mountain biking.

Maybe I’ll award a temporary tattoo of Elsa from Frozen. The cold never bothered her anyway.
Oooh… I might be able to help with a custom temporary tattoo for this prize.

We’ve joked some about having to reinstall bumps for speed calming purposes.
Haha. No kidding. Without that massive root heave/speed bump in the corner before the first underpass on 4MR after the split, I find I really have to think about speed and corner control to not end up in the oncoming lane. But that is a me problem, not a trail problem. 😎

but I quickly learned that being on the bike is the best therapy I can afford.
I think you might eventually find that actual therapy ends up being cheaper than bikes….

Also, if there’s beer at the end, that never hurts.
We should go for a bike ride!

ParticipantThere was a WashPo article a couple of months ago about the best Pizza in the DMV… I have been thinking about doing a pizza/brew ride at some point in the near future. This might just jump start that for winter instead of the spring!
