@cvcalhoun yes! And thanks for the wordle link. It’s so helpful how you seem to know how stuff works – or how to figure it out π
Ima hafta start on Tuesday though – at least by bike.
I’m going outta town tomorrow am through Monday night. It’s a HS reunion, but since they made it in Orlando, and everything about Orlando seems to be crazy pricey, and I’m not gainfully employed, I’m driving down & camping on the way, & again on the way back. That’s why I’ll be gone so long for a 2 day reunion. Not bringing the bike…. Walking & hiking will be good for my bone density anyhow, which probably suffers during FS.
I can see if I can get others interested in Β playing too. And I could probably play some while I’m away without the bike if it helps you – this is no prize time, after all

Thanks @kbikeva & @Serdar for running the contest this year, & for responding kindly & helpfully to my disgruntled comment/s. The wordle thing made it quite a different contest from what it used to be – especially from what it was the first year when @drevil led it. I guess it took me awhile to learn how to play it this way.
I hope making it wordle based made it easier for you guys to manage the contest, and makes the wrap-up simple. I loved @drevil’s contest its first year, & I’m STILL finding purple houses and pink cars π but I know it took Ricky a lot of time, both during and after the contest, & that he ended up getting a lotta help from @JoM that he hadn’t realized he’d need – and I’m thinking they were probably the first ones to applaud your attempts to simplify the game & make it more manageable to lead. And of course we ALL appreciate your efforts to make it more sustainable π€©

I think some people might do it actually…. I don’t play wordle but Β I bet I could get a friend or 2 to help me put with the daily word. I wonder, could we do that here? Or maybe on Strava & all follow each other π€π€·π»

Well you guys are into creativity & I like playing with my words, so I decided to take the S Β off of the beginning of the word & stick it on the end. That makes PELTS.
And here we are again, after a nice warm Β few days (when we could even open windows!) back to wearing our PELTS ππ€·π» This is me, Joan, Marie & Annmarie, all back to wearing jackets (only those of us on the left half of the pic are playing FS.)

March 18, 2024 at 9:29 pm in reply to: Final Week Pointless Prize: Find the Arlington Bike Friendly Community Signs #1134415NadineParticipantAwwww I’m sorry I didn’t see this till tonight @Henry. I would totally have done it. I woulda – or you coulda – posted something to the team thread about it & gotten you more help.
Having said that, and prize aside, how long do you have to get this done? Cuz I could still look for π² friendly signs post FS and…. either post them here or on Strava and tag you – or whatever would work best for you

NadineParticipant@Lhasacm I’m not surprised to hear you feel like FS has been taking over your life. I’ve been noticing that you seen to be riding much more this year than I remember you riding, in past years. I decided it must be cuz your daughter is growing up. Β π€π€·π»

I was psyched about this one. You hafta know the PDEastman’s children’s book to appreciate it. I wanted to post a link to the book, but I can’t get the complete book online, and my husband thinks our copy is somewhere in the attic (cuz our “kids” are 26 & 30) so Ima do my best here. This is a preview of the beginning of the book, followed by a pic of the relevant page (not my #scavhunt pic, but background.) Click on this linkfor the first few pages of the book:
Here’s a plot synopsis:
A baby bird goes in search of his mother in this hilarious Beginner Book edited by Dr. Seuss. When a mother bird’s egg starts to jump, she hurries off to make sure she has something for her little one to eat. But as soon as she’s gone, out pops the baby bird. He immediately sets off to find his mother, but not knowing what she looks like makes it a challenge. The little hatchling is determined to find his mother, even after meeting a kitten, a hen, a dog, and a Snort
Now for the best part of the book, the page with the SNORT Β – which appears after the previewed pages.
Then my #scavhunt pic follows.
I climbed up an embankment & stepped over the orange mesh barrier to get this SNORT pic, at the sparrow pond w&od detour, while Β @consularrider waited patiently at the bottom with the bikes π

Finland, the EU & the Vatican flags (in reverse order, & hanging down, so hard to see)The EU flag is especially hard to see – it’s the one in the middle, but more towards the right – just left of the Finnish flag
