Thank you to all who came out last week to make it another fun week. I was pretty bummed to miss out on Friday’s festivities due to an injury, but the CCBID team said it was great. I wanted to pass along the numbers for the rest of the week. We will also be sending people who showed up to the pit stop a survey to help get some feedback from this year, and upcoming years.

This year’s event has been great, and it is always a pleasure seeing everyone out there. This morning was our biggest weekday turnout (except Fridays) since we started the program 6 years ago. We were discussing previous year’s attendance this morning, and thought posting them would be fun.

    Hope to see you tomorrow.

I will work on getting the website updated, and sorry for not posted something on here earlier. Bike to Work Week in Crystal City is planned as usual from 7a-9a, and I hope to see you all each morning. This year we will be doing a different prize each morning caps, socks, tools, etc. And of course breakfast and coffee! For safety checks and minor repairs we have some different groups coming in to help – Phoenix Bikes: Wednesday, District Wrench: Thursday, and Bikes for the World: Friday.

Hi everyone. We will be back at the Crystal City exit of the MVT this Thursday, October 29th from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM handing out lights. We hope to see you all there, and if you can not make it be sure to stop by Bike Arlington’s giveaways next week: http://bikearlingtonforum.com/showthread.php?9461-Time-to-Lighten-Up-Arlington!-Volunteers-wanted-for-Lights-for-Bikes-Giveaway-2015!

A jersey will be MINE! They said as long as the 89 people show up Thurs and Fri, we’ll get the jersey at a happy hour sometime in early June. I just hope I can select my size. The last thing I need is a mens size L jersey…

Thank you all for the support and coming out, definitely makes the early rise out of bed much easier to know that you all are enjoying the program. After this mornings event we are at 84 riders who have rode all week!

The plan is to give out the jerseys at the first Crystal City Blues & Brews event on Wednesday, June 3 from 5:00 PM-6:30 PM. We should have sizes for everyone in men’s and women’s cuts. We will do a random raffle of the riders who biked in 4 days for the remaining jerseys (which as of now is 16 jerseys for a possible 31 riders)

The closest station is right outside the garage entrance located at 23rd Street S. & Crystal Drive. The race is scheduled for 20 minutes so riders will be cutting it close to dock it within the 30 minutes.

Update from Crosshairs about the next two weeks at the Crystal City Wednesday Night Spins.

“Quick announcement about the next two editions of Crystal City BID and Crosshairs Cycling’s Wednesday Night Spins. This week (Race #3) will be the final race for the Elite “A” race in the series. So if you want to experience 45 minutes of fun, and you’re one of the fast guys, tomorrow is your final chance.

For week four, March 25, the final race of the night (replacing the “A” race) will be the Fixed-Gear Finale. We’ve had a lot of requests for this field, so we’re giving the people what they want. One gear, no freewheels, for that race only. If that’s not your thing, I hear you! But still, ride out, have a beer, and watch what should be an entertaining race.

Registration for all races is here: https://www.bikereg.com/crystal-citywednesday-night-sprints

If you’re thinking about jumping into the beginner “C” race, it is almost sold out for tomorrow night.

Don’t forget that the Wednesday Night Spins starts this evening. The garage is not really warm, but it is dry. Hope to see you there.

The Crystal City BID will be giving out lights again this year on Thursday, October 30th from 4:00 PM-6:00 PM at the Crystal City trail connection to the MVT. We will be giving out the normal blinky lights, large tail lights, and LED arm/leg bands for runners and walkers. We did talk to MWAA and left a message with NPS, so hopefully we do not get a visit from police officers again. Unless they need lights too! Hope to see you all out there.

I wish my bike room looked like the others, but space is limited in an Arlington Condo. Our den is used for bike storage (and office), while wrenching is done in the dining/living room.

The open course challenge is a fun and less competitive race. You get points by doing various challenges at pit stops along the course. A couple on a tandem won one year, because they were getting double points. The other races can be competitive, but I think people are also just having fun. The team race is always cool to see the costumes.
