ParticipantOkay, I put in my request, in spite of the numb fingers from riding 17 miles today!
And I’ve now sent private messages to every member of Team 2, asking them to join as well.

Okay – I am thinking consularrider is out on a ride somewhere, so I will make our Strava Page.

ParticipantOkay, guys, I’ve bicycled every day in 2014–including today, when I had to chip the ice off the shed door to get my bike out. I want a team to join. Team 2, where are you guys?!?!?

ParticipantCan we get links for where to join each of the teams? I had to do a bit of searching around Strava to find Team 2. Edit: Team 2 is at http://app.strava.com/clubs/46386.

ParticipantCan we get a link for where to join Team Two on Strava? If I’m going to bike in tomorrow’s cold and gale warnings, I want to know it will count!

ParticipantI suppose this is a good day to start this competition. What with eating much too much of a turkey, plus some other odds and ends, yesterday, I started today at 210 lbs.

ParticipantActually, she’d be at a huge disadvantage in Freezing Saddles, since she’d have so many November-December points (which would establish her baseline). She’d basically have to bicycle to the South Pole twice during January and February to give her team any kind of advantage!

ParticipantI just tell myself that since I’m out there in part to burn calories anyway, riding in the winter is a bonus, because I burn more of them.

ParticipantAlas, I cannot go to happy hour in Shirlington on January 2! I have a preexisting commitment to a rehearsal for The Vagina Monologues, coming to Greenbelt Arts Center January 24 to February 8. Will there be some other way for me to get notified of which team I’m on?

ParticipantThanks for the suggestion! I’ve updated the original post accordingly. @dkel 72503 wrote:
Thanks for posting the steps. One suggestion: contestants might want to register for the forum before filling out the Freezing Saddles application, so that they will have their forum username to put down on the application.

ParticipantCarol C (a/k/a cvcalhoun) is now a member of BikeArlington club, and showing on the leaderboard. @hozn 72150 wrote:
Birddog, I’m not sure who you are in freezing saddles / strava. If you don’t see your name at all, maybe try re-authorizing the application: http://freezingsaddles.com/authorize
On the result page of the authorization, the app will tell you if there are any errors (like if you are not a member of any competition teams).I notice the following people do not appear to be members of BikeArlington club:
– Carol C
– robert sIf you are one of those people, then please just double check that you have “joined” the bikearlington club: http://www.strava.com/clubs/bikearlington
I emailed dasgeh seperately, but it sounds she also may simply need to re-authorize. (There was a time early on when there were some bugs on initial authorization for certain accounts; that could explain both cases.)

ParticipantI suppose I should be grateful that my bike is only about 64 lbs.–a hybrid bike, plus various accessories, plus panniers, plus whatever is in the panniers at the time. However, knowing that Strava thinks that no bicycle is more than 50 lbs. at least makes me feel a bit better about the fact that my average mph is only about 8. In my defense, many of my rides are up and down Wisconsin Avenue, and that two-mile uphill out of Georgetown definitely lowers my average speed!

ParticipantI have added links to my post above, but I have no way to edit the original post in this thread, which is the one in which the information needs to appear. @rcannon100 72220 wrote:

ParticipantYou might want to provide instructions for how to enter here, with a link for each step. As far as I can make out, to enter you need to:
- Register for Strava.
- Fill out the application form. (Deadline is December 24 Midnight.)
- Register for this forum.
- Authorize the BikeArlington Freezing Saddles app on Strava.
- Join the BikeArlington club on Strava.
Bonus link:
I’ve picked up each of these from a different place, and it actually took me quite some time even to find the links for where I did these things again. And apparently I’m not the only one who is confused, as others have for example signed up for the app and not the club on Strava. Any chance of getting one comprehensive list?
