I may put one out tonight. It’ll just be the one that never got picked up last year. It is full and may need a restock and tossing of items that maybe no one wanted.
Try to put it out during daylight. It needs a number and a name. Give it cb10 or higher. And start a new thread with its number and name.
Thanks!!!

ParticipantI’ve done several rescues pre-BAFS and think this is a great program. Might I suggest a small change for the Challenge? Instead of mileage, how about we tag the ride where we did a rescue with #foodrescue and then just tally the total number of rescues completed? If you did more than one rescue (not several trips for the same rescue), then mark it with an “x2” (or whatever number of rescues conducted) at the end of the hashtag. This will be easier than having to do multiple “rides” to separate out food rescue miles. Henry , what do you think about this modification?

ParticipantNice deals at REI going on now. This article summarizes some of them quite nicely: https://www.singletracks.com/mtb-gear/take-20-off-one-of-these-rarely-on-sale-items-for-mountain-biking-at-rei/

As of this Tuesday, October 10th, Tuesday Crystal City Coffee Club will return to the newly reopended Water Park, weather permitting.
My understanding is that in the event of bad weather we will go back to Mah Ze Dar.
(By the way, what does Mah Ze Dar mean in Arabic? Mah Ze in Hebrew is “what’s this?” )
Well, if you go to the cafe’s website (https://mahzedahrbakery.com/pages/about#:~:text=The%20Meaning%20OfMah%2DZe,but%20cohesive%20in%20its%20stories.), it says this:
in urdu, the word mahzedahr describes the taste essence of food, its flavor and magic that make it delicious. this one word captures the life of a taste experience, unique to each person but cohesive in its stories.
So now we know.

ParticipantOn a weekday, take the train to Savage (Annapolis Junction) on the Camden Line. You can ride the Patuxent Branch Trail to Guilford Road in the Kings Contrivance area but need an all-terrain/adventure/gravel/mountain bike as it’s unpaved.
If you need to go on a weekend and take Penn Line, you can use Maryland Bike Route 32. You’ll need to drop down from BWI rail station but not too difficult to link up with this route: https://www.google.com/url?q=https://ridewithgps.com/routes/2114739&sa=U&sqi=2&ved=2ahUKEwiD_bDXgNmBAxXkEVkFHcJLALoQFnoECA8QAQ&usg=AOvVaw2lRrIzm6CpY2D9U334F5ih

For those of us who don’t have the super-decoder ring for bridge numbers on the MVT, can you tell us exactly where “Bridge 15” is?

ParticipantIt was open today and I noticed that the plywood/catwalk on the downstream (Pizza Hut) side had been removed, so I suspect that was why it was closed yesterday. I didn’t pay close enough attention to see if the upstream (I-395) side still had any of the construction remnants hanging over the edge or if that had been removed as well.

ParticipantThe NYC number needs another “4” at the end.
But there’s a DC number on the local website that’s probably a better contact point:

Sounds nice. Average pace? Drop or no-drop?
Both short and long rides are no-drop. Average speed for short ride is probably 10-12 mph overall, slower uphill and faster on flats. Long ride average is probably 13-15 mph.

June 16, 2022 at 3:22 pm in reply to: What to do with video of dangerous driver at signaled crosswalk in Arlington? #1121728kwarkentien
ParticipantSend it to Dave Statter. He’s a retired reporter from Channel 9, a former volunteer firefighter, and runs a website, Statter911. He posts all sorts of videos of near misses and stupid drivers on I-395 as well as calls out local 911 services (DC) and other actions that endanger resident safety. Most of the stuff on his website is fire department-related, but he lives here in Arlington and is a rabble-rouser for safety. Might be worth a try.
