What’s a Cavendish? One of those weird Brit foods? “I’ll have a Cav with a bit of marmite.”
I so wished you’d said Vegemite, but no…. as always you are incredibly accurate with your insults and cynicism.

… was obnoxious.
I too had a wooden-bridge-wipeout, when I tapped the front brake and lost the front wheel. And even though I fell on my left side, my right hand seems to have taken the worst of it, at the very spot that I rest it on when typing or mousing.
AND THEN, my front tire went flat. My mini-pump managed to freak out a dog, though. That was neat.
Heal up buddy.. perhaps we can help each other drink beers tonight at HH. We might be one whole person combined.

You’re riding it to the wedding right?

ParticipantJust getting caught up and well, this whole thread just sucked the jam out of my donut
total bummer! I hope your recovery is fast. I can attest that the boot is WAY better than a cast, but you didn’t exactly dodge a bullet…it grazed you a la “The Matrix”. Hope to see you tonight so we can buy you stiff drinks for the pain.. I believe rcannon100 plays a DR. on the internet and highly suggests whisky as a healing power. Hope you feel better soon.

ParticipantPLEASE don’t let this tragedy turn our forum into ANOTHER pointless helmet debate with “experts” stating their opinions. Lets stick to discussing the facts that contributed to the accident. The shoddy reporting shouldn’t surprise anyone at this point.

ParticipantGot on the bike, felt great for about 3 minutes. As I cruised onto Trollheim I noticed a gentleman adjusting his handlebars right before the dogleg… it just didn’t click. I went down just where he had a few minutes before. Amazing, years of commuting through that section well aware of the many forum members that have given blood and bone as an annual sacrifice and my number finally comes up. So it’s raspberry season on my body.. hip is pretty ugly…. wrist is really really sore! Still made it to Cafe Kindred though for some sympathy and awesome coffee. I hate wood!

ParticipantSo I actually tried on the Giros and found them pretty uncomfortable. I ended up buying Fizik’s r3bs with the boa system. Although they’re taking some time to break in I really like them… cheaper and lighter than the Giros, while still classic looking with lots of adjustability, especially when on the bike. Thumbs up!

So who told Dickie it was a beach party?
Whenever you’re not there it’s a party for me.

ParticipantA wedding day lasts 24hrs, your relationship to your bike, riding and thus happiness lasts a lifetime… as too will your marriage. In simpler terms; fire the DJ, buy the bike and live happily ever after. Congrats BTW.

Is it?
Apparently not.

ParticipantUnfortunately the only one I knew retired from Virginia Heart a few years back…. his name was Fritz and he was an avid cyclist. My current cardiologist is fantastic (scares me a little), but has no idea about cycling…. when I mentioned that I ride between 800-1000 miles a month he asked if that was a lot… ughhh. I’ll ask around… good luck with the recovery!

ParticipantRolled in around 8:15 to find a lonely Boomer sitting outside a closed Mikes… stuck around for a little while but needed my coffee before work. Sorry I missed everyone.

ParticipantI have cycled most of my life and even raced as a kid for a few years but this took a back seat to tennis for many years. I paid for my bachelors tuition working as a tennis pro and playing Ontario tournaments (and sucking mostly – head case). I also played Ice Hockey for many many years before I felt the pains every morning. I don’t do much cross training at all these days unless you consider my job a sport.
Cycling pros:
– Much less wear and tear on my body
– I can actually use it for transport
– I really like the culture and people associated with cycling
– I can ride on a pretty consistent schedule
– I have not had my cycling jersey pulled over my head with a fist entering the head hole over and over (yet)!
– Jimmy Connors has not embarrassed me on a bike (yet)
– I have not picked up my bike and smashed it into the ground due to a bad call (or non call)
– Cycling is actually cheaper than Hockey (annually), and if you remove the therapy and travel cheaper than Tennis too.Dickie
ParticipantThat was an awesome turn out.
