ParticipantI plan on being there!Β If the weather is decent, I might ride there from work and do a bunch of laps. If it’s raining…I’ll likely just drive in for the final lap or two! π

ParticipantUnfortunately, as important at the BAFS2024 Happy Hour is…this weather and the number of emergency service sirens I’m hearing out here (Burke) suggests that the sensible move is to sit this one out π₯Ίπ₯Ίπ₯Ί
Hope everyone has a fun and safe night…and look forward to hearing which team I’m on!!

Freezing Saddles Closing Happy hour will be Tuesday April 11 from 6:30-8:30pm at City / State, just off the Metropolitan Branch Trail and minutes from Rhode Island Metro Station on the Red Line.
Awards at 7pm SHARP: We’ll only have their sound system for 15 minutes to present awards so we’ll need to be snappy! Please arrive before 7pm to grab a drink and some food.
No cover charge: Folks will pay as they go for food and drink. The taproom will be open to public so we will commandeer some tables — they have ample seating, indoors and outside! Please tip generously as City/State is generously allowing us to use their great space for our party!
Drinks for sale: Great Beer and non-alcoholic options available — see: http://citystatebrewing.com/currentbeers
Food for sale:UPDATE: JB Humble Pies: delicious savory and sweet pies https://www.jbhumblepies.com/
Getting here: 705 Edgewood St., NE, in the District of Columbia: Come by bike via the Metropolitan Branch Trail, or take a 3 minute walk from the Rhode Island Avenue Metro Station.
Parking: Bike parking on racks in front of the loading dock, and along the fence on the patio. Limited (vehicle) parking available on the roof.
RSVP: It would be GREAT if you RSVPd here so we could get a headcount. Thanks!
I plan on being there…

You guys should probably take a couple of days off from riding. Don’t want to overdo it.

ParticipantAre food trucks allowed down at Hains Point?
…that might be an easier option than having to bring/arrange food…if they are allowed there…or nearby??

ParticipantHi All,
This will be year 5 (I think!?) of BAFS for me…third volunteering as a captain (although I did kinda inherit the captaincy of the first Team that I was a member of). Hoping we can get some appropriately distanced group rides done this year. I’m mostly a road rider, daily commuter, sometime gravel rider…and quite enthusiastic about riding to breweries.
I guess I have two cycling mantras:
1) “I’m not fast, but I can sustain mediocrity”
2) “There’s no such thing as bad weather, just the wrong clothes”
Looking forward to some mutual motivation and peer-accountability.Nigel
