FS Newbies — introduce yourself here!

Hi friends! My name is Alyssa, and it’s my first year actually being organized enough to get on the freezing saddles train. I run Radical Joy Riding here in DC (bikes are for everybody!) and help organize DC Bike Party. I’m also certified as a League Cycling Instructor! I’ve been in DC for just over two years– I grew up in the bay area and spent about 5 years wrenching on bikes and doing community organizing in Minneapolis before making my way to the east coast. In the very small amount of time I’m not doing bike stuff, I’m cooking, rock climbing, cross stitching, drinking fancy coffee, grabbing a beer at Lyman’s, or hanging out with my cats (and my husband). But honestly, it’s mostly bike stuff.

Hi all!
I run a mobile bike repair & education workshop off my cargo bike in DC (upshiftdc.com), and I am excited to be joining! Technically I participated in 2018, but this year will be diving in more actively! I ride my bike 10-20 miles/day for work, so looking forward to contributing all that as points to my team! I might not have the bandwidth for many group rides, but look forward to happy hours & coffee meet-ups, and cheering y’all on!

I work outside on my bike for my job, so happy to be a resource for any gear & bike maintenance questions from anyone new to winter biking✌️

Wow, this thread might be my lifetime crowning achievement. Imagine all the redundant threads that’d be clogging up the pipes without this one. Unfortunately, there’s probably no BAFS for me this year, but I’m glad to see lots of new participants!

I highly recommend participating in the photo scavenger hunt pointless prize if someone’s hosting it this year.
