Either that’s a really tiny bike or a very large…. I’ll just shut up now.

ParticipantOK, I just looked at my Flyby and I went straight past you…. it looks as if you had been stopped for a good 5 minutes or so. It also looks like DCV passed by right before me and didn’t stop either which is very unusual. Neither of us even paused which makes me wonder if you were hidden from view or not “needing” assistance. I know that stretch well… I wonder if you were moved off the trail onto the small access path behind the bushes. I pretty much stop for everyone so if I saw you I would have asked…. this is very bothersome. If memory serves I do remember seeing a firetruck and ambulance hauling ass, but they seemed to be heading away from my location… towards the Exxon station. Perhaps they were swinging off Glebe and heading back around to you? You mentioned “…or if you stopped to help”, do you recall other cyclists being with you when the ambulance arrived?

ParticipantJustin – I rode through there on Saturday probably at 5:30ish and don’t recall seeing anything unusual at all. If I had seen a rider in distress, confused, or looking lost I would have certainly stopped so I am thinking you had been carted off by then. I hope you are recovering and can fill in the gaps soon. I had a bad accident many years ago and suffered some memory loss, I was never able to piece back the accident but I was able to move past it. Best of luck, heal properly, don’t rush, and feel better. I also suggest posting the ride as Steve mentioned.

ParticipantI got shoaled this morning on Lynn by a total “dude” on a cabbie who tried to to do a track stand and failed…. actually made my day. I squeezed him out of the bike lane as I passed heading towards the intersection of doom… good luck Mr. Fruit of the Loom showing, track stand failing, Cabbie riding Dude.

ParticipantTimed that one well for once. Tried to leave the shop at 6:00 just as the storm hit…. hung around until 6:30 and rode with clear skies and perfect temps. Arrived home in time to have a beer on the balcony and watch the next wave come through. Doubt I’ll be so lucky this evening.

I find it a chore to walk the length of Tysons, but riding 100 miles is easy. That may be more than the activity, but from a practical perspective they are very different activities.
This! I’ll ride 200 miles a week but be out of breath walking up 5 flights of stairs to my condo with a bag full of groceries. As my riding has increased over the years and replaced time for hockey and tennis I find my muscles becoming pretty singular in purpose. When I have a long day at work installing or delivering (I’m a woodworker) I ache so much worse now…. also, I’m getting old!

ParticipantPretty sure that’s Me, Dana, and Consularrider in the first pick. Thanks for the high five Henry!

ParticipantActually, I never named the “Client” and in his defense he told me to delay the delivery so I could enjoy coffee, but making money and staying on schedule always takes priority. Powerful Pete – As for the Italian rugby team, lets hope they are not made of glass like the national football squad because that won’t bode well (you are now free to mention how many cups you have won, and 1966, and how crap England is…. I opened that door)

Dickie, before going swimming last night, I told Powerful Pete that you are the other italian int the group. Told him that he has to come to coffee so that he can meet you.
I am a little confused tho. Or he is. I believe I saw a Campi wheel on a Kona Jake?????
I’m so ready to meet Powerful Pete (ha that rhythms), sadly no FCC this week as I’m delivering a kitchen to a really unworthy client…. perhaps next week?

Second time on a fixed gear (borrowed). I figured why not just jump on in, right? The first three minutes were frightening, and I almost turned back to get a shifty bike. The next ten minutes were better. By the time I was half way in, I felt pretty good. Looking forward to the commute home, and I’m glad there is a front brake.
I wondered why you had the hipster pant leg pulled up, and a total look of fright on your face…. makes sense now.

ParticipantAnother forum member completely misses my waving, calling his name, hand out for a low five greeting… yes Dismal, you are now on my list of those that shall not be greeted by my glowing personality (and shiny head) anymore…. and I know it was you, because there was a big black storm cloud following you and I tasted metal in my mouth when we passed.

ParticipantSo sorry to hear about your accident, and wishing you a fast recovery so we can hear more stories about your riding history. The silver lining is that this terrible incident got you to post on our forum, so welcome and stay in touch.
