Dear bird… I thank you for gracing me with good luck as you crapped on me. Your timing and aim was impeccable, narrowly avoiding my helmet in lieu of the big vents, and missing the old ratty arm warmers to strategically hit the white sleeves of my new Rapha jersey… your ability to pause so both my handlebars and rear drop-out were sufficiently doused was a thing of beauty. I especially liked how you performed the magic bullet trick; hitting my back, shoulder, chest, thigh, and eventually my wrist…. you sir (or madam) are an artist.

I’m planning on giving the boss the slip at 5:00 so I should be there around 5:30.

I’m going to try and make it, but my schedule is a little iffy at this point.

You’re starting to sound a lot like me. Did you start your own thankless business with an idiot boss?

This morning we met at the new Cafe Kindred on Lee Blvd just west of the WOD. The food was awesome, the coffee strong and tasty… all in all it’s a wonderful place in a good location. I returned later with my wife after my appointment and got chatting to the owner(s) (she works the counter and her husband is the chef)… they loved that we showed up this morning and will make sure staff is on hand for future Tuesday mornings. I say we make this a permanent stop on the weekly coffee tours…. I know I’ll be back, that ham and cheese croissant is still making my mouth water!

I’m in! Not exactly sure if I’ll be with the early crew (Hozn) or the late crew (GB), or be there the entire time with the lush (dkel)…. regardless, it’s going to be epic.

Thanks Potomac! I was just sitting down at work to have a late lunch and saw your post… was able to stream the last lap. WOW what a finish! I think Cav had to go for the win to limit the time bonus chances for Sagan. Incredible finish.

Dickie and I had a no-five this morning. Figured that fits in this thread.
Also had a couple of closer than I like interactions with wobbly, overly-enthusiastic riders.
But, hey, that’s also part of Bike to Work Day.

So close, yet so far… totally misjudged the shortness of my arms. I also blame my “Wear’s Waldo” outfit.

Rosslyn at 6:15 for Java shack coffee and some friendly faces, then Crystal city… not much going on.. grabbed a granola bar. The big win… Shirlington! Best Buns giving free pastries… and the good ones… got a Bacon Cheddar Scone and a Lemon/blueberry muffin + Phoenix had good swag as well… amazeballs! Ballston next for a bagel, some swag and a great contingent of the forum gang. EFC for a free U-Lock, Falls Church for half a donut but perhaps the most fun of all…. what a awesome bunch of folks! This is why Jan runs the best shop in town… GREAT people! Mosaic last for some headphones and a Starbucks gift card…. 24 miles, 7 stops and tons of fun!

The BeIn commentary has been just horrible…. worse than Americans commentating Premier League. In the second stage I learned more about the commentator’s dinners and bowel movements than the actual race… I finally turned off the sound and enjoyed the images. I thought Pozz’s accident was one of the more brutal images in a long time…. that was until I saw Daniele Colli’s forearm facing in the wrong direction after the sprint carnage today! My breakfast didn’t stand a chance. SPOILER ALERT – looks like a big contender might be out due to the accident as well.

I stopped by and inspected where the event took place. Nothing spoke to me. No gashes or maybe bike parts or car dents. There are, in that area, two dangers. From the road to the 4MR are two steal bollards. Nasty. Again, on the 4MR is a transition from asphalt to the cement underpath. Basically the equivalent of a pothole for a road bike.

I talked to a neighbor who said they had seen EMS activity, and that the person that they were helping was over on the benches on the 4MR, right where the trail transitions from asphalt to cement. She said that the EMS trucks were on the road, that the personnel was helping someone on the trail at the benches, and she could not see what was going on.

You might post signs in the neighborhood asking people to contact you.

    Nice work Bob.

I would guess that sudden pain has little to do with the bike fit itself. It is unfortunately our tendency to quickly look for answers to new pains and aches with the bike generally taking the brunt of the blame. Yes, proper fit will alleviate aches and pains that accumulate with poor positioning, but to suffer a quick injury especially on a familiar bike IMO seems more in-line with a muscle pull, or similar injury. Rest it for a few days.
