Do you know what time the bike rodeo is on April 29th? I just saw the Arlington Palooza (https://parks.arlingtonva.us/events/arlington-palooza/) also on the 29th from 1-4pm and was going to suggest that as a destination until I saw the bike rodeo. Maybe there’s a route that could incorporate both?

Where exactly? We should have ACPD at BAC tonight…
Sorry just saw this (I didn’t get a notification of replies until today for some reason…). Probably too late but I’ll DM you the address.

Bollards are up. Yay!!
Woohoo! Looks great.

The side roads coming in to the trail … are there bollards at those entry points? Could the person have easily turned off? I wonder if that’s how they got on, accidentally or if they were just looking for a quicker commute.
I’m not sure about the bollards but it did look like the person was confused. After turning around (which was when I first saw her) she put her blinker on once or twice to try and turn off before realizing her car wouldn’t fit on those side paths.
btjParticipantHere is the reply I received:
Thanks for letting us know about the vehicle on the trail – this happens from time to time, with the driver usually being disoriented, but occassionally intoxicated. I called the Vienna Police Department to report the incident, but they said that despite having the vehicle’s license plate and the video, they need to actually witness the event to take any action against the driver. The dispatcher I spoke with suggested calling the police immediately if something like this happens again so that they can catch the driver in-the-act and evalute the situation personally.
Regardless, thanks again for your diligence in recording the event and informing us of it so we can keep an eye out in that area in the future.

I retweeted it for FABB but it probably deserves an email to NVRPA Ranger office. WOD@nvrpa.org
Thanks for the address, I just sent off an email.

County Planners say:
“Generally, you only put a thru bike lane to the left of a travel lane when it’s a dedicated right turn lane. Strange that it doesn’t have an arrow. (Old street view images going back to 2007 don’t show any arrows ever.) I think this is one of the pieces of Quincy that’s supposed to get paved this year, so it’ll be addressed one way or another. I’ll ask traffic engineering what the story is and get back to you.”
And:
“Signals diagrams definitely show it as a dedicated right turn lane. Most likely we’ll clarify that with this year’s paving.”
Ah ok that’s good news. Thanks Tim!
btjParticipantIt has arrived! Haven’t put too many miles on it just yet but it took me a few days to get it all together. I do need some help though… my Haul-a-Day needs a name! Any ideas?

btjParticipantSo, I just ordered a canary yellow Haul-a-Day! With all accessories I selected (fenders, foot rests, rear top deck, whoopee deux bars, etc) it came out to 36lbs which was a huge selling point for me. I still have some time to make modifications so I may second guess the color choice…
btjParticipantLooks like there was a car vs bike crash today at the intersection from my original video. The driver and cyclist were both standing on the sidewalk when I went by so it didn’t look like any major injuries. Police were there and the car was stopped just past the stop sign (the same sign that all the drivers blew through in the original video I posted). Sadly it was only a matter of time but I’m glad it looked like there were no serious injuries.
btjParticipantThe Fr8 looks promising but seems like it might be pretty heavy (50-60lbs? I couldn’t seem to find an official weight). Part of my daily commute will be up the Rosslyn hill…
btjParticipantThanks for all the replies! I’ll give College Park Bicycles and Mt. Airy Bicycle Company a call to see if they have any I can test ride (they are listed as Haul-a-Day dealers).
@dasgeh to answer your first question, I don’t think I’m going with e-assist. Secondly, thanks for the rundown on different models, I wasn’t aware of all of those.October 26, 2015 at 2:39 pm in reply to: Inaugural Mid Atlantic Cargo Bike Picnic & Games 12-3pm, Nov 1st 2015 Hains Point #1040042btjParticipantGuess I need to start practicing wheelie’s on my Bullitt…
btjParticipantHere we go…
btjParticipantUpdate! Not sure when they finished this but paint is on the road now.
