At my kid’s daycare a year or so ago the county installed curb cuts on either side of this crosswalk between the daycare parking lot and the playground. Ever since then some parents use it as an exit to the parking lot (well I even saw one parent repeatedly exit here BEFORE the curb cut was added). I’ve talked to the daycare and they put out cones every day but the moment they forget, drivers start using it again. I see drivers do this when the parking lot is full (it’s small ~10 spots), I’ve seen them do it when it’s empty, and on at least one occasion I saw someone do it when a kid was in the middle of the crosswalk.

So… is there anything I can request from the county? A sign or physical barrier?

Seems like 2 well-placed flower planters on the asphalt would do the job. They would just have to be spread far enough apart so people in wheelchairs could get through.

Haha. If someone was driving over the curb before, she will just go around the bollard. Planters are a better idea – six-seven feet between them should be a deterrent. Or how about trees in ground cutouts on the asphalt part? I like trees.

The best solution here is a weight triggered electromagnetic pulse.

Sorry just saw this (I didn’t get a notification of replies until today for some reason…). Probably too late but I’ll DM you the address.

Good idea. This would also take care of phone zombies at the crosswalk.
