ParticipantThis is helpful.
Fast response – yes I know about the power button. It often does not work to end the screen freeze.
I almost certainly need to clear space.
Thanks
Edit: I deleted a bunch of old rides last night, and it worked fine this AM. We shall see.

I’m in! The venue couldn’t be much easier for me, and I’m so grateful! I don’t see well enough in the dark to ride for real /at any kinda speed.
I was surprised to see the HH this close to me, though, & a li’l concerned about the Marylanders. I hope we can find a more centrally located venue for the closing HH. Having said that……
I LOVE MD Meadworks and I hope we have multiple gatherings there in the daytime! I can’t imagine making it all the way there & back at night, though, so I probably wouldn’t come if it were there – as much as I I appreciate Rumi’s offer [emoji177]

Lmk if “the management” is interested!
Yay! I know what I will be wearing!
Dilemma – I want to remain the top ‘rater’ of MM meads on Ratebeer, but don’t want to spend time at FSHH typing into my phone (and I have to enter them into the RB database, because RB is not nearly as popular as Untappd). Solution – ride to MM sometime before that and try to rate EVERYTHING on tap that I haven’t yet rated.

I think Virginia but more centralized is still doable if DC isn’t an option. What was the place we went to in Crystal City in 2020? Just across the river would be okay.
It was Highline on Crystal Drive. I attended, by metro, because it was in the middle of TRB, I was in a suit and tie (this was my last in person TRB) I intend to attend TRB in person this year, for the first time since then. I am not quite sure how formal I will be this year, and whether I will metro or bike from DC. We do what we need to do.

Thank you for sponsoring this prize! Is the hashtag #biathlon?
Do we need a hashtag? I was going to go on trust – this to be a really chill “competition”. But if we want a hashtag, that is what it should be.

We just have to say that for liability reasons.
For the “#withkid” standings that this expands upon, the age-limit is 14.
Princess of the Mark will be pleased with this decision.

This is 225 Reinekers Lane, Alexandria, Va . In the early 90s this was the home of the DC area offices of A.T. Kearney, a renowned global consulting firm – the shipper side RR practice (which advised companies on how to reduce their rail freight bills through clever negotiating tactics) was at that location.
“Ken, I told the other principals that you add value to our rail practice, but this other partner said it was too hard to get you billable hours and they listened to him. Perhaps management consulting is not your thing. Plus we have to cut back as part of the EDS merger. We will give you a very good reference”

Like a number of other recently installed DC cycletracks (e.g., Kenyon between Warder and 11th, and Virginia Ave NW), it’s not fully/officially “open” since signal work isn’t complete (though it’s coming along nicely). The new lanes are lovely, but please be especially mindful of turning drivers failing to yield.
Thanks for this caveat. Though of course I try to be mindful of drivers failing to yield everywhere.

Yeah, I’d like to be optimistic and think this means everyone who wanted to register has done so. But I’ve been Registration Czar since 2016, and not once has it been the case that everyone registers before the deadline. From past experience, there are a bunch of you about to say, “Argh, the deadline was yesterday?!” or “I just talked to this friend and they want to register. Is it too late?”
In hopes of avoiding being asked these questions about 1,000 times, I am including a link to the official late registration FAQ.

I guess this is the part where we differ. I agree that a 2-3 ton hunk of metal moving at 45 mph can kill me. I also fear that a 300 lb rig, including 80+ lbs of bike and battery, moving at 25-30 mph can kill me. So are you only concerned about things that can make you really, really super dead, not just regular dead? I’m personally concerned about both.
I am more worried about being hit by a truck, than about being killed by an airplane falling out of the sky. Both would leave me equally dead. The difference can be expressed in one word. You PROBABLY know that word, but I can’t be certain.

Hi Serdar,
Thanks for organizing the PPs again this year.I will again host the Meh-diocrity awards. These go to the team and individual who end up exactly in the middle of the standings. The Meh-est of them all!!
