Cool, we can all get like three feet of air on the commute home.

Seriously. I was really glad to be on a mountain bike. That thing is turning into a small wall.

Zippy trip home! I hit 21.8 mph on Ohio Drive, tried to crack 22 but couldn’t quite make it today.

Rested in Shirlington for a while. I didn’t do the MC hill, upon someone’s brilliant suggestion I took Valley to Preston instead. Longer, still tough for me, but a good level of tough. I think I managed to keep my cadence above 75 even when it got hard. This will be good and get me strong instead of destroying my knees.

I shall also mention that my tibialis anteriors are looking mighty fine today. :D

One thing that affects my knees (other than saddle height/position) is how wide/narrow I pedal. I find that the closer together my knees are the less likely I’ll get pain (esp if I’m riding hard).

Yep, I need to make sure I’m not wobbling. Focusing on spinning smoothly and not mashing definitely helps.

Or if you’re really concerned and feel personally responsible to change people, volunteer to help WABA or BikeArlington teach safe cycling classes, become an outreach member. That’s really the best way to change people. You’ll make a much bigger difference that way. Be the change you want to see.

I’m thinking of doing the LCI course through WABA once I get some more miles on the legs. I miss teaching and it sounds way more fun than getting more IT certs. :p

If you want to sound more continental you can call it a “saddle pole” or “saddle pillar”.

    Pedestal of saddleosity! ELITE!

Gee, maybe that had something to do with the inch and a quarter I raised my seat last night after measuring it 😮 Still a little twinge on the right knee, might raise it a touch more and see how that feels. Also, I discovered my seat is crooked. The right side is higher than the left.

Oh no, I was not ELITE. I should have called it a saddle. Why is a saddle on a seatpost?

If you are ever in the Fairfax/Merrifield area, I have a full workshop and would be glad to help you get those fenders installed…. however, I do work for beer and compliments!

I just need to pop over to my friend’s shop and borrow the Dremel – trying to cut through fender stays with a cheap hacksaw is not cutting it. Ha. See what I did there? :D

I made it back out on the bike today! 11 day sick break not cool. :p

Got a little tired, definitely no PRs today but not too bad overall. Saw a decent number of folks out and about.

Hey, remember how I mentioned my knees were hurting a couple of weeks ago?

Getting a fitting as soon as I can afford one.

Although I mostly blame my horrid office chair. HATE sitting in a chair. Should bring the trainer to work and sit on the bike all day. (Yes, I have a 20-year old MTB and a trainer. Go figure.)

Dear lightless hipster salmon on Columbia: I just came way too close to hitting both of you with my car since I was checking the bike lane BEHIND me before I pulled in to park. Try the lane on the other side with the arrow going the same direction as you.

It is about challenging these contrived notions of what ELITE really is while simultaneously breaking out of stereotypes and experiencing a utopia of nameless faces passing by you on the trail whilst nay mentioning a word of their coming or going. ELITE is being a boisterous ninja, a lemon in need of aid, a beat that doesn’t need to nik.

Mmm lemons. I say we start a cult of Cipollini and roam the MVT in tiger-striped skinsuits. And stick-on Wiggo-burns.
