ParticipantWell since I’ll be going right by CC anyway, I spose I should stop in on Friday!
Hmm. I think I will need to head out a little earlier than 7:15 from Shirlington if I’m going to hit 3 pit stops AND make it to work by 8:15.
They’ll probably catch up with me anywayKelOnWheels
ParticipantAlso I watched “The Flying Scotsman” on Netflix last night.
Do you think my neighbors will be upset if I chop up one of the washing machines in our building?
They shouldn’t be, there were a couple of guys downstairs last weekend taking a circular saw to a sleeper sofa in the hallway…

ParticipantYeah, I would have been fine if I had been on a bike!
The bus I tried to take to get home blew past without stopping, so I wound up walking about half a mile and then my neighbor came and rescued me

Time to CaBi home then!

ParticipantI feel obliged to mention that I was so busy shopping online for bike stuff on the bus ride home today that I missed my stop and now am somewhere deep in the wilds of Arlington. I blame you all

ParticipantI took this class Saturday in DC and it was AWESOME!
We did about two hours of drills (rock dodge, emergency stops, emergency turns, sloooooow riding) then hit the DC streets for about an hour and a half to experience all of the different types of bike lanes. We took the Penn Ave cycletrack, the 7th St bike/bus lane, the 15th St cycletrack, and even made a full loop of Thomas Circle switching from bike lane to car lane to bike lane to car lane… really, really excellent! Now I am not freaked out by the cycletracks.
We finished up with a tire change demo back at the Ellipse, then I relaxed under a tree for a while to recover from all that hard work – which coincidentally put me in just the right place at the right time to see my brother ride past in the Police Unity Tour!
Important thing I learned not covered by the class: When you haven’t been on a bike in a really long time and you’re planning to suddenly be on one for 3 1/2 hours, WEAR THE CHAMOIS!
I’m going to take the June 3 class in Alexandria so that I can do the trail riding half next

ParticipantI just registered! (Eeeee!)
I’m planning to start in Shirlington (look for the confused person with a spotty Nutcase helmet on the ancient mountain bike) and hit Freedom Plaza and then Mount Vernon Triangle to grab my t-shirt
Now I need to figure out how to get to Shirlington from my apartment…

ParticipantHave fun! I was too broke this week to grab a ticket
KelOnWheels
ParticipantEh, just thought people might want to read it.
To each their own noggin.

ParticipantArgh! Too many things I want to do tomorrow!
KelOnWheels
ParticipantOh right! Hmm, maybe I can sneak in a couple of miles before hitting the road for Mother’s Day…

ParticipantI used to take my ball python for bike rides. She seemed to enjoy it.

ParticipantGonna go check out my repaired bike on Sunday!
I really wish I could do the CC class this weekend but already have plans – going to shoot for the May 12 DC class instead.
Got a great deal on a Pearl Izumi WXB Barrier rain jacket on Amazon (the helmet hood amuses me way too much) and a happy orange Pacific Outdoor Equipment Vancouver bag is on the way… (if you can’t bike, buy bike gear!
)

Does this mean you don’t get to buy a new bike?
Well, I will still need a bike that weighs less than a small car for commuting
But at least now I have something to take the Confident Cycling classes on! (trying to decide if I want to try to make it downtown tomorrow morning or wait for the Arlington class)
They are SUPER nice guys. I miss that job.

ParticipantJust found out the guys at my old job FIXED MY MTB as a surprise! They just sent me a picture of my new shifters.
