Today I had an ELITE biker almost run into me head first because he was pedaling hard in his spandex while fiddling with his ipod (and yes the white earbuds were in). This was right near the Holland Carrilian next to the Iwo Jima. I belled him then said ELITE!

Is this like Dirt’s jingle bells so that we will forevermore hear this ELITE rider coming whether he calls his pass or no? Well done.

So do you ride your commuter bike to the race & carry your race bike?
It is about challenging these contrived notions of what ELITE really is while simultaneously breaking out of stereotypes and experiencing a utopia of nameless faces passing by you on the trail whilst nay mentioning a word of their coming or going. ELITE is being a boisterous ninja, a lemon in need of aid, a beat that doesn’t need to nik.

Mmm lemons. I say we start a cult of Cipollini and roam the MVT in tiger-striped skinsuits. And stick-on Wiggo-burns.

we have a theme song already!
Look in my eyes, what do you see?
The cult of Cipollini
I know your anger, I know your dreams
I’ve been everything you want to be
I’m the cult of Cipollini
Like Mussolini and Kennedy
I’m the cult of Cipollini

PS – there go the Post reporters again, misspelling a local colloquialism. It’s ELITE. Not “elite”.
August 15, 2012 at 12:29 pm #948654JasonParticipantI just posted a correction in the comment section on the WP.

He’s gonna need a lot of spokes on his wheels at 257 pounds…
August 15, 2012 at 1:46 pm #948669creadingerParticipantHe won’t need anything crazy. He’s basically the same size as me. I’m a little taller, but other than that the ONLY difference would be he’s a little darker skinned. Ok, ok, maybe he has more muscle and less fat than me too.
August 16, 2012 at 11:09 am #948741JasonParticipantELITE biker sighted this morning: ELITE jersey, second morning in a row at 5:30AM, at first I thought he was wearing NO lights, then I saw this morning, he is wearing a single red light, not blinking, stuffed INSIDE the back of his jersey. I guess this way he can hide his light from the other ELITE bikes so the ELITE bikers wont think he is less ELITE!!!
August 16, 2012 at 12:35 pm #948750dbbParticipantELITE biker about 0630 between north DCA bridge and Gravelly Point blowiing between three southbound runners running side by side and a single runner heading north (with me doing a slow roll waiting for a clear pass right behind the single runner). No call no slow.
A safe pass has a higher standard than not hitting someone! This is not Days of Thunder, where Robert Duvall said (paraphrased) “If you ain’t rubbin’, you ain’t ridin'”
Slow the F down and call your passes
