Oooh, thank you! I have to kill an hour Friday morning after an MRI but before the LLBean opens. Now I know where to go – that store looks awesome!

I’m using my entry to call attention to the problem with the puzzle piece associated with autism. Please read about the controversy here. https://www.altogetherautism.org.nz/autism-no-puzzle-nothing-wrong-with-us/#:~:text=To%20autistic%20people%2C%20the%20puzzle,the%20past%20referring%20to%20autism.
In the past, a puzzle piece referred to autism. I took a photo of this life-sized Deadpool, who is considered to possibly exhibit a partial range of autistic behaviors, and so previously might have been associated with a puzzle piece.

I had no idea it was even controversial. I remember “Bike to the Beach” using it for years on their adverts for the ride! Thanks!

I rode down to a particular street sign, which is a puzzle which you can see on my Strava feed. That was going to be my entry but then I stopped by a little coffee shop to get warm and saw these awesome little pieces stuck to the front of the Cash Register.

ParticipantLike chocolate? I’m leading a ride from Vienna to City of Fairfax for the Chocolate Lovers Festival on Feb 4 or 5 — depends on which day looks better with weather. If you’re interested, comment here and I’ll keep you updated.
Starting Place will be at Vienna Caboose (there’s a parking lot there. You get into it via Ayr Hill Ave). Starting time will be 11am. It’s only about 7 miles each way to City of Fairfax. I will provide a route that shows the way back as well so you can leave when you’re ready (i.e., not everyone has to stay together once we get there).
Bring a lock and some $$ for chocolate tastings!

ParticipantThe Washington Post story on Thursday about the ransomware gang, Hive, made me think of how tenuous our data privacy is. But this is a nice hive, a new Meadery in Leesburg.

Participant1/28/2023 Data Privacy. There was a story in the post on Thursday about the Hive ransomeware gang. They thrived on stripping organizations of data privacy. This is a much nicer hive organization – – a new Meadery in Leesburg.

The most sexy, alluringly suggestive photo shoot of the devil’s food cake. I present the most tasteful one, contest has rules! Background music 1975 with Chocolate. I could have entertained myself there until closing time. Almost like “dance like no one’s looking”. This is how quarantine was. Awe, thanks KBikeVA for introducing me to the riches of suburban follies.

I never introduced you to anything at RTC that wasn’t public art! You found the chocolate on your own!

What an exercise in temptation today. I too went to a bakery that has gorgeous cakes like those others have gotten photos of. But this was the one that I actually tasted —A chocolate cake pop from Conche Chocolate & Cake Studio in Sterling. You know I hate having my photo taken, even by myself, but this one was too good to pass up!

A reminder: Be wary of wet wooden bridges. After a decade of no problems, LBJ grove bridge finally got me.
Bike is fine. Laptop is fine. I am okay, but my elbow has looked prettier.
I hate wet bridges and pavement mostly covered in wet leaves. But wet bridges more.
Sorry it got you – hope you heal quickly!

The SR-71 was a surveillance workhorse during the Vietnam conflict. This beautiful airplane is elegantly retired at Udvar-Hazy. Did you know that you can bike from the Reston area Metro stops? Hit me up if you want the route.

Boomer, what does the sign on the baby seat say? I enlarged the photo but couldn’t quite figure it out. I was hoping it said, “Baby has a video on you” but I don’t think so.

This fountain was specifically designed in the 1960’s for children to frolic in.
The sign on the fountain (zoom in) indicates the opposite is true.
