ParticipantUpdate — the contractors worked long hours and got it done. The W&OD trail closure will end tonight and it will be fully open tomorrow March 24 in time for the morning commute.
ParticipantHey Bike Commuters who use the W&OD — between Smith Switch and Rt. 28 in Ashburn, the trail will be COMPLETELY CLOSED starting March 9 and continuing for up to 6 weeks. The bridge span over Broad Run must be replaced immediately. If you’re headed toward the east, take a left on Smith Switch, right on Gloucester, right on Pacific and then right into the parking lot at Rt. 28 to get back on the trail. Going the other direction is more challenging because of the left turns.
There’s no workaround for the pedestrians, sorry.
This closure applies 24/7 through the weekends.

ParticipantThis is a great local ride suitable for families and friends who are ride-curious. Think of it as a gateway ride to get them hooked! The cost covers the ride and a $5 donation to Fairfax Alliance for Better Bicycling (FABB). These are the folks who go to all those bike advocacy meetings so you don’t have to!
ParticipantIt was fun to do and you all were great – even on those terrible Wordles!
In addition to the pointless prizes for the “rode every day” (Christina Swartz and Janet L), and the overall winner, CaseyKane50, I have some truly pointless prizes for everyone who played even once. So if you know you’re NOT coming to the HH, can you let me know that here so I can get a head count of how many more I need to make? 🙂
