Participant1/1/25 – nerve
Monroe Street bridge art reminded me of tangled nerves, situated over the metro (train approaching)–DC’s public transit nerve system. Before the bike lanes were added, the bridge took much more nerve to cross on bike.

Participant3/18 arty lights – nevermind, untagging on Strava since I’m my hurry to take a few photos before the final Haines Point map I forgot to include my bike, doh! But since I didn’t see how to delete the post, I want to say thanks so much for running the publicartfinder competition, Karen, and thanks for everyone for pointing out some awesome art!

Participant3/17 rainbow over DC
Decided not to ride to the parts of DC where getting dozens of flags is easy as shooting fish in a barrel and instead give myself a real challenge.
Just kidding. Wasn’t feeling well so decided to aim for a few close enough to home to not break a sweat. I think I ended up with 17 new…in honor of 3/17, let’s say! More than I thought would be left. Congrats on everyone’s big finds!

Participant3/17 snort
“A winter cycling competition?!” she scoffed with a snort. “Why, sure, I would enter that. When pigs fly!”
Snort!

Participant3/16 toxin – Today’s word led to an interesting discussion of “toxin” versus “toxicant” or “toxic” when kidSnowy suggested biking along the MBT to photograph the sign about the Ft. Meyer request for a permanent permit for their asphalt operation. It’s great @LhasaCM posted that and raised awareness! I think it fits with the colloquial use of “toxin.” But to be annoyingly pedantic, I stuck with the definition that toxins are of biological origin.
Daffodils contain the toxin lycorine, which when consumed can cause sickness or even death.

Participant@cvcalhoun. Yes! No more than 3 flags from one location. Essentially, you can get many flags on one ride and all existing rules apply. Only post one to forum though, since it’s time consuming.
My goal was giving everyone the flexibility to choose which day is better for you, but not to much time to plan too much in advance.
Kris
And would you need all new locations that haven’t been used so far in this competition?
