ParticipantWhat’s everyone’s thoughts on tomorrow mornings commute? Studs?
Dickie
ParticipantLooks like my vertigo has finally passed and the dizzy spells are mostly over… time to get serious and put in some miles. Hopefully I’ll be contributing properly soon enough.. thanks team for keeping me on board!

You: my wallet somewhere between Purcellville and Ashburn. It didn’t help retracing my route (other than to add milage).
You could turn finding it into a crowd sourcing treasure hunt simply by making it a BAFS side challenge.

This AM commute. Great day!!!!
you must have been directly in front of, or behind me this morning because that is exactly what I was marveling at around 7:20am.

I’m doing two rides in MD tomorrow if anybody’s interested. Should be a nice day; meetup at Proteus. -Jeff
Thanks for putting this together capt, unfortunately I’m working but I’ll get my miles in too and from.

ParticipantHow about “people riding with Vertigo” or “Most unbalanced indirect squiggly route”? I’ might finally get my hands on one of those.

Disconcertingly expensive, but this: https://www.showerspass.com/products/mens-amsterdam-jacket
It’s spiffy, and I was plenty warm this morning with just my merino jersey underneath.
Also, really spiffy. The Wife said it fixed my temporary unbeardedness, even.
Ooooh, that would go so well with my pipe and hat!

Strava Flyby says that Dickie has red lights on his spokes. True?
Yup… santa lit me up! Thought I spotted you this morning but wasn’t sure… and I had my light covered, and it was cold, and slippery.. so no low five.

I’m sure Planet Bike is a great company and all, but IMHO their fenders SUCK.
Interesting, I’ve had my PB’s on the Caadx for 2 years now and put them through hell without any issue. The front one rattles a little if I am riding one handed, but other than that they’ve been great. Good coverage, easy to install, cheap, durable. I did add my own mud flap on the front wheel which added to the splash protection… all in all pretty satisfied so far.

ParticipantLeft Rosslyn at 6:30am on 700 x 32 knobs, no stubs. Headed west on Wilson to Fairfax Dr and then the Custis connector. All good… well salted. The Custis to the WOD had a few slick spots, but nothing worrisome. The WOD was fine, Brandymore was a little slick. The WOD through Banneker part was pretty bad, lots of slick spots and black ice… nearly went down. I bailed and took Sycamore street to 16th and stuck to streets until hitting the WOD at citizens bridge. From there to Gallows the WOD is decent, some black ice and slick spots…. citizens bridge was slick as well. Gallows is salted and fine. My ambient temp was 33º but this was dropping so conditions might actually worsen into the morning.

GREAT JOB TEAM 3 MARYLAND INQUISTION
You are the first team to have all your team members signed up. Gold stars for you.
Other team captains: if you haven’t already been in touch with me, elwbikes or I can help with contact information for your missing members if you need it.
TEAM ONE: You still need a team captain. I can help you out but need someone to work with.
TEAMS 4 and 11: Fast Friendly Guy is out; Dickie is in, correct? All high mileage/handicapped riders have joined up with their teams. If the two of you have made your final decisions, I will go ahead and send the high mileage late signup to team 4 to replace FFG.
thanks everyone!
Yep….I’m in. Team wants me and my vertigo to stick around…. Dizzy Dickie will ride again!
Dickie
ParticipantThanks everyone for the kind words and support. I will ask Amy to keep my on board and hopefully I’ll be riding like normal again soon. On that note I went ahead and ordered some new studs which are set to arrive this week. This should guarantee that we have no more snow until March 20th.
Dickie
ParticipantThanks everyone. Yeah, I ignored the doc and tried riding yesterday and today. Felt OK, but had dizzy spells… not sure how much I should push it. This typically happens to me once or twice a year and is usually associated with bad sinus infections, so hopefully it will pass soon…. we’ll just have to see what Amy decides to do with me. Bummed…
Dickie
ParticipantJust wanted you all to know that I asked Amy a few days ago to remove me from the competition due to suffering from Vertigo. My miles will be really low for the next few weeks and I didn’t want to hurt the team. I will join the Strava site but I’m not sure if I’ll be replaced or not.
