ParticipantI was riding about yesterday and made a great discovery that may be of use to the coffee clubbers….the new Whole Foods by Garfield Park between capitol hill and navy yard has self-serve taps for a few varieties of nitro cold brew coffee and teas. Plus there is a Slipstream coffee/wine cafe on the adjacent block with likewise inexpensive prices coffee/treats.
While I have your attention I have one more hidden gem…. the Pavilion cafe in the art park next to the Natural History Museum. The catch? You must walk your bike while within the art park, no biggie.

By the “art park” do you mean the Sculpture Garden at the National Gallery of Art? https://www.nga.gov/visit/sculpture-garden.html
Or is there something similar at the National History museum?

Both.
The sculpture garden is located in between NGA and Natural History. But yes, NGA owns it.
What I don’t know is how they get sculptures to grow like that.

I’m always up for activities in the CapHill/Navy Yard area, but I would not call anything that comes from Slipstream “inexpensive”

ParticipantIt’s official: Cosi in Crystal City, cold/nasty weather home of CCCC on Tuesdays, is no more.

Starbucks at 23rd and Crystal Drive is the replacement spot for CCCC at the moment, I suppose.

ParticipantI gather the Wednesday coffee club at Best Buns has resumed (outdoors with distancing). Any others? Might be nice to have a master list.
Since few of us are commuting downtown at the moment, I assume FCC is still off.

I’ve been past Best Buns on a couple of recent rides. Best Buns was doing curbside business. All the outdoor furniture was stacked up inside the Carlyle restaurant space. I don’t think HDCC can resume yet.

We tested it out on Wednesday this past week and I think it went well…
We sat in the breezeway next to Guapos…there was a nice breeze and we sat 6ft or more apart. We also did an impromptu of Coffee at Whole Foods (WTFCC) and sat outside there too…
I will be attempting all of them next week:
Monday at Swings
Tuesday at the Water Park in Crystal City
Wednesday at Best Buns (breezeway) in Shirlington
Thursday at Whole Foods in Pentagon CityCome out and join us if you can and feel comfortable doing so…

ParticipantI cannot resist Moira Rose. So I will try to get back into the grind (hahaha) for next week…
(Currently, I just pop down 3 floors in the building at 7am for fresh coffee at J’s every morning!)July 21, 2020 at 6:22 pm #1106210Steve O
ParticipantNote that WTFCC will be meeting at a quieter location (which would be almost any location on earth). You can still get your coffee at WF or CJ or SB, but then you will want to go to:
https://what3words.com/moral.lions.wiselySee you there this Thursday!
