This is perhaps silly, but does anyone want a stack of bike-related mags (or part of one)? Includes some of the usual stuff (Bicycling, Adventure Cyclist), but also Momentum, Peloton, etc. I could throw it in the pannier tomorrow. I also have a bunch of “Bike Rides in DC” (and MD, and VA) type books, if anyone might be interested.

I vote for a “pop up” bike rack right in the first parallel parking space, as a way of demonstrating how many bikes you can fit into a single car spot.

Why not? I’d be up for it. Just need to lock the bikes to each other & feed the meter. If I’m there early enough and see an open space in front of Cap City, I’ll start it.

I’m wondering if the meter time expired, who would get the ticket? Unless someone is riding a bike with valid tag.

But there are Inverted U’s spread about – there is a whole series down the block at the library. And there are Us spread about. So look for them. But Shirlington is bike-friendly meaning that there will already be a lot of bikes there. Shirlington is also dog friendly…. so someone bring there dog to guard the bikes!

Well OK, but he’s awfully short…

I just called Cap City – they don’t have any of their TVs set up with recording or playback capability. It’s a great idea, though, and might be something to think about if someone wants to try to do something like this next year.

In this case, the Tour watching was an afterthought that came along after the Cap City happy hour was planned. There are probably other places with much better TV set ups. We’ll see next week what Rhodes Tavern has for that.

He’s perfect — looks like he can fit in a pannier no problem.

    A few additional things –

For those arriving early, and especially for any who might get there before I do, we’ll initially be on the patio. It’s shaded and the temps will be decent with humidity falling.

Several people will be driving or walking there and in street clothes – you won’t feel out of place if you don’t bike to the event.

While there is a lot of talk about biking, there’s lots of talk about other things too, and non-biking spouses/partners/friends who would like to come will easily find enjoyable company. Not everyone will be sweaty.

Name stickers are included in the price of admission, but you can still call Pete Dirt if you want to.

There are about a dozen covered inverted U racks near the Shirlington transit station, just a quarter block or less from Cap City. The parking diagram in the first post shows locations of other inverted U racks too, but doesn’t reflect all the racks at that facility.

Although the wait staff is very good, it might be helpful to have some smaller bills handy instead of just 20s, for settling bills without a wait for change.

    See ya’ll there!

I woke up this morning and felt lazy :( I have a hard enough time biking 20 miles when I’m not feeling lazy! So, I drove to work LOL. If anyone needs to lock anything up in a vehicle, I have room in my little black Chevy Sonic.

I don’t have a lock with me so I don’t know how long I’ll stay, but if I don’t feel like going to sleep after the Rev hill ride I’ll be there.

I even went out and got new kit in honor of the event! (Well, OK, a jersey & socks)

    It’s quite pro, as you’ll see :D

Still wearing the mushroom hat & the giant bugeye shades though.

    Dave,

If you come, I have long cable to lock couple bikes together.

    I wore my kung-fu t-shirt. It’s my daughter’s favorite. Also, pro.
