The problem appears to be if you want to get to Ballston without hills you almost need to go on Fairfax Dr or Washington Blvd and keep south of the Custis.

I think the flattest way (but not shortest) from Ballston would be (also more distance on MUPs than streets):
Bluemont Junction to W&OD
Right on W&OD
Left at soccer field onto Arlington Mill Rd.
Immediate right onto 4MR trail towards Dominion Hills Park (formerly Mace Park)
Bear left before the park onto the sidewalk and then onto N Liberty
R. on 10th
R. on Patrick Henry – yes, there’s a hill, but it’s more gradual than most of the others
L. on Washington to Westover.

Congrats regardless. We had two MD members of our team who were inconveniently located, so we got 7 birdges by 7 members. (Plus a bunch of extras that Vince & Greg crossed on a weekend “crash the bridges” ride last Saturday.)

We also track average temperatures for rides (based on start geo for ride and data from wunderground). We store off all of the weather data (hourly observations) that include lots of other info (precipitation, wind speed/direction, etc.) but these don’t all get ingested into the database for reports currently. Thanks, Hozn. We can wait, since there is a >0% chance we’ll have another arctic blast anyway. I prefer to go with simplicity, though, rather than trying to parse if Rockville was still 9 degrees at 10:43 or something like that. I’ll circle back with you in Feb.

If this side bet is popular you could do a variation later in the competition in which each direction on a bridge counts separately, but the same rider cannot get credit for both directions on the same bridge.
