I suggest a drinking game made up of taking a sip every time they say “Cav” and chugging the glass every time they say “Mark Cavendish”.
Let the games begin!!

ParticipantI’ve got tickets to the 7pm show. I like the game – I think we’ll play!! Good thing I’m taking public transportation ; )

ParticipantThis looks like it’s at the S-curve. I rode by there last night and didn’t see it – was I oblivious to it??? Or was this “hit” done late last night?

ParticipantGreat timing. After yet another flat I’m trying to figure out what to do with a bag full of blown tubes.

I won’t talk about the 2 seasons that I raced my mountain bike in the early 1990s running a DuraAce short cage rear derailleur and a 30t cog.
WHAT!!! But the manual says…. ; )
Yeah, I’ve been researching the heck out of it over the past few hours and I actually have read a few posts on another forum where people are running Ultegra and DA rear derailleur’s with a 30t cog. So I may be pushing it with a 32, but it’s worth a shot before forking over at least $300 for a SRAM shifter.
Thanks guys – you’re help is much appreciated.

ParticipantThanks Dirt.
I checked it out and it appears the long cage (GS) can only take up to a 28 tooth cog, if I’m reading it correctly. But I’m probably not becasue it shows both the long and short only taking 28, which doesn’t sound right to me. If they both handle the same capacity, then what’s the difference?

ParticipantJust found this thread and thought I’d resurrect it. Great idea!
I’m Jimmy and I live in Falls Church. I’ve been in the NoVa area for 25 years now. I’ve enjoyed riding since I was a kid – started out like most of y’all probably did on BMX then got my drivers license and didn’t get back on a bike until 2005. I bought an old Stumpy on CL, which I still have, and thought riding it on the C&O was mountain bike riding – until a buddy took me to Fountainhead. Since then I’ve acquired several more bikes and I’ve been hooked but have been doing mostly road riding b/c it’s easier for me since I live right off the W&OD and I’ve had a couple of injuries in the past couple of years that didn’t allow me to MTB ride.
I started commuting to work in 2006 and try to do it 2-3 times per week. Now that I work in Arlington, it’s been much easier to do and I’m actually averaging probably 3-4 times per week.
Very nice to see a local Arlington forum – great job guys!!

ParticipantThanks Dirt!
So it looks like my plan of keeping my Ultegra shifters to use on a SRAM Apex rear derailleur & cassette will not work. Darn! I was trying to avoid buying those shifters b/c those buggers are expensive. I was even looking at swapping out my rear derailleur for a shimano MTB derailleur, but then I have the 9-speed to 10-speed issue going on.
Gracias amigo!

Sir, no sir. I just had meetings until 0730
Wow, i don’t think I’d survive where you work. I hope this means you’re typically heading home at 2pm!

ParticipantDang – how did I miss it! I’m clearly not “aware” of my surroundings on my commute. First the port-a-potties now this sink hole.

ParticipantThanks for the info Dirt!
You know, I’ve now ridden by that place 3 times in the past 24 hours and keep on forgetting to check to see if these are still here in FC. I’m guessing they’ve been removed, but I’ll try again… for th 4th time.

ParticipantI saw those over the weekend, I don’t recall ever seeing them before in the past. So I figured they were up for a Memorial Day 5k or something. I didn’t notice if they were still up this morning on my way in – I’ll check on my way home to see if they are indeed still there. It’s a good location since I don’t know of one around this area until you get to Vienna.

ParticipantNice Cervelo Dirt! Were you riding Skyline this weekend? I was there on Friday – nice day to be out there. Although they’re repaving the first 10 miles which kind of stunk – but outside of that it was a nice ride.
