Ok, but will Strava only publish pictures “associated” with the ride? If I instagram a picture of dinner a few hours later, does that end up in my Strava and BAFS feeds?

Ok, and I thought that the regular Bar Mitts were goofy…

Good ride. In Gabba we trust. Truly exceptional.

Now if they only made Gabba material shoes…

Again, as PotomacCyclist and DismalScientist stated, just fiddle with the nut on the opposite end of the quick release to tighten/loosen things. Will get you exactly where you want to be in terms of ease of operating the QR and not having the seatpost slide down…

Well, great, chilly and wet commute this AM… hoping you all good oodles of miles in this AM and above all had a good and safe time doing it!

    Ad maiora!

Just to confirm what Dasgeh said, the curvy bits on the bike path coming down from IoD were very treacherous (no pedal there when I passed, but sounds like we were there more or less in the same time frame).

Trollheim is now completely passable – there is still a bit of ice and slush but there are good clear bits.

Hains Point is also fine, if a bit wet…

14th Street Bridge is also 100% A-ok. Nothing much else to report beyond the Metro PD Escape parked squarely in the middle of the 15th street cyclepath, forcing me to ride into incoming traffic to get by. The representative of Washington DC’s finest just stared at me. 😡

Have you considered reaching out to Sidi? In Italy they were very responsive (never had reason to contact them since I moved to the U.S.).

Steve O, I believe that one of our other team members (who I ride with) has not yet joined Bollard Busters… he is on Strava but not on the team yet. I reached out to him via email this evening.

I suspect several others teams are in a similar situation…

In the meantime, doing what I can to prepare for more BAFS riding…

All worn today. The Sidi boots really did make a difference, the Castelli Wind tights are certainly warmer than the “not Wind” bibs I usually ride in.

Hains Point this afternoon, looking towards the 14th Street Bridge and Rosslyn.

Please pardon the photography, just an iPhone picture…

I can confirm that Hains Point is gloriously clean and free of any and all snow/ice/slush.

I rode the 14th Street Bridge and then rode north of the MVT to the IOD. The bridge is now perfectly rideable and there is little in the way of ice (few patches here and there, just be careful).

The MVT has several patches of icey ice, but usually in the midst of leftover crunchy snow, so you will not be caught out unawares and can always ride on the shoulder/grass.

Trollheim is still mostly covered in snow/ice, so be careful there. I ended up walking a bit just to be on the safe side, but nothing extraordinary in terms of conditions/time involved.

So, things are looking pretty good over all…

And before I forget, this was at around 16:00 this afternoon.

Thanks to all those who chipped in to organize last night’s event. It was great to meet [some of] you and to begin putting real names and faces to forum avatars! I look forward to riding and socializing with you in the course of BAFS 2015 and for many more kilometers (hopefully in increasingly clement weather) to come.

And of course, a most humble and glorious salutation to fellow Team 4 members. Glorious victory will of course be ours. ;)

Most humble salutations. Great meeting those who made it to the happy hour last night, and a hearty and shivering welcome to those who did not.

    1. All hail Steve O, our fearless leader.

    2. I am Powerful Pete. A much more impressive name than my riding capabilities. Moved to VA last summer, commuting as of November 2014. Long time rider, former racer, now fat and slow and content.

    3. I live in North Arlington, just off Lee Highway. The closest booze store is Arrowine. Yes, I enjoy fermented and distilled beverages. And wine, and cheese, and carbos, and most edible things (this is not necessarily a good thing for a cyclist).

    4. I commute into the District, so I get in about 30km a day (I am originally from Yuroop, so prefer metric to that other measuring system!). :p Oh, I am partial to mindless laps at Hains Point. As in, the Hains Point competition is very important to me. But also enjoy riding on weekends.

    5. Newbie to FS, the area, and winter cycling in general.

    6. In terms of team names, happy with Bollard Busters and also found team ” Four – Midables ” to have a pleasant ring to it. But am agnostic… will go with whatever the team majority prefers.

    7. Have signed up for our Strava team. 😎

    8. More than happy to participate and/or help organize some team rides to get the miles in.

    9. No, I am not normal. But who in a normal state of mind would sign up for this?
