We expect some mountain top finishes from you to at least get some respectable temperatures. Maybe Huascarán, I’m not sure the Renegade can climb that slope, get a fat bike and don’t forget your oxygen bottle.

Working on my fitness as we speak… but funny you should mention Huascarán…

    @Judd
, I like the idea of Dreary Saddles. It also involves imbibing warm beer… or so I am told.

It all comes down to trying to get Boomer to ride fewer miles and convince those who associate with him that he really is a shady cycling character. Also his day job involves forests and not roots and tuber crops (inside work related joke – but roots and tubers are really cool).

Also, did I mention the need to discourage him from riding?

Signed up. Remember ride often. Unless you are Boomer. Miles/Kms ridden on the wrong side of the road in the British Isles are, of course, not counted.

I will do my best to visit the DC area to ride in pain and discomfort with all of you. Although, given the fact that summer is now in full swing through March/April, I will ride and work on my tan throughout all of BAFS this coming year. :p

Indeed. I suspect it is the only one in Lima (and possibly Perú). This is a country where you either ride an MYB or a full on road bike. Except for a few weirdos! ;)

I am also a 54. Just saying. And don’t let that Boomer person sully the bike. He prefers Treks and not more exotic and sophisticated Jamis bikes.

Thanks to Pete Beers and Bikenetic I have a new 54 Jamis Renegade ELITE that will be my stateside bike replacing a 30 year old Raleigh that has a cracked seat tube and was always breaking spokes.

Echoing what Cyndi said… I must say that you made an excellent choice. Not that I am in any way biased towards the Jamis Renegade line… ;)

Winter is coming… so things are getting very foggy and even more humid.

What the heck are you doing in Peru?! How long are you there? Curious minds want to know.

I have moved. Will be here at least three years. I’m a full time Limeno now, who occasionally appears in Arlington on vacation.

    Come visit!

Oh and the riding is interesting here… although I still have to make it out of the city for the really good stuff.

… after my initial month in Lima.

Now have my official bike shop/mechanic. My Jamis is a lot happier with the tune-up.

And I am happy I didn’t have to do it (and screw things up in the process).

Looks perfect for some knobbier gravel/CX tires!

    Sshh… you are speaking logically. N+1! ;)

Actually, a second set of wheels with a more aggressively treaded tire would make sense.

But apparently the MTB-ing in the area is very good, so it would be a pity not to equip myself with a well above my riding abilities MTB, wouldn’t it?

Started to ride here – the fast guys are really, really fast. Traffic is horrendous and dangerous, so all rides begin at 5AM-ish…

A few pictures from the local version of Hains Point and from the ride to the Morro Solar, a hill overlooking the ocean shore with a short nasty climb.

Let me know when we organize the BikeArlington Southern Hemisphere Ride!
