Well, looks like what we got was another sign. I can’t say I like the placement. At all.

83(b), dude, I need a lance that can be field repaired in Grant’s third world where arc welders are plentiful and nobody has heard of glue. Please design a steel model. Weight unimportant as it’s not rotating mass.

Hold on to that video. Alexandria is beginning to discuss the future of that site. The recent Waterfront plan suggests the City will want a continuous MVT and will consider giving the GenOn property owner perks in exchange for improving the trail there, especially if there’s documentation of risk.

I guess this should go in the Alexandria BPAC section, but the city is looking for advisory committee members. It would be great to have some MVT commuters… https://www.alexandriava.gov/planning/info/default.aspx?id=86036

Aren’t there still convex mirrors by the curves?

Whenever possible, people should be using a hosting service like imgur. Flickr makes it really easy to embed photos, too. I’d rather Bike Arlington be able to spend its money on bike advocacy rather than larger hosting packages.

Am curious about costs — cloud storage like Amazon S3 is dirt cheap. If vbulletin weren’t so uptight about showing pics to registered users, it should be cheap & easy to offload image storage and web delivery to Amazon.

Take the sidewalk westbound at the 7 Eleven, go south on Mt Vernon and take Oak or Walnut to Commonwealth. You might want to filter past cars between Rosemont and Cameron, as they get pretty backed up. Then Daingerfield, Diagonal, and cross Duke either in the tunnel or at grade in the crosswalk south of Duke/Diagonal.

IIUC the CaBi station is moving onto the renovated station, no more crossing Diagonal & walking uphill. I sure hope that’s right.

If only someone would develop something flexible, maybe something made of some kind of cloth that could catch any overspray so it wouldn’t drop into the water..,

The trust is a fiction. The WBJ article says somebody wants to create it but needs $500k to get started. I can’t see that money materializing unless they can better articulate goals. What do they want to preserve, the green space or the 60 mph highway? Which is more important?

+1 on trailrunner’s post. Once the stem is tightened the cap is not needed. But good luck if you ever need to adjust the headset and don’t have it.

BTW if you want to try different stem heights you can buy “locking spacers” that can maintain tension when you take the stem off. Of course you always want a properly tightened stem if you’re actually riding.

Reminds me of this classic camping gear:

…though for everything besides situations where you must pack out your wee, that newfangled gadget looks better.

Oh, and it was City staff (the City Manager) who proposed adding no new CaBi stations this coming fiscal year. It was City Council (on which Silberberg now sits) who restored funding for adding more CaBi stations.
