3/18/2024 – Spelt – Aka, a version of the past tense of the verb “to spell”, more commonly used in England.
If one has spelt a word wrong, one might call it a typo.
I found this graffiti tag in only two spots today – one was on the ART on an overpass. The other – not nearby – was sprayed on a fence on the MBT. Though not quite as wide-spread as Pezboi, this person gets around!
3/16/24 – Toxin – The Clean Rivers Project is attempting to stop sewage runoff into the Anacostia River when it rains. Sewage contains toxins that can spread disease amongst other things. This colorful sign is adjacent to a sign warning those in the area to stay away from the river during or directly after rain due to the presence of toxins. Interestingly, Paris as the host of the summer Olympics has also tried to stop this same runoff issue with the Seine, as they would like the swimming competitions to be in the Siene this year.
3/14/24 – Since – Since I hadn’t ridden through Oxon Hill Cove Park & Oxon Hill Farm in over a year and avoided it during Drevil’s ride earlier this year, and since I had a little extra time after work, I rode through this park and took a moment to read about the history – since I was there. The land and structures have been entrusted to the National Park Service since 1959.
3/13/24 – Local – This awesome store/cafe opened in College Park in December and sells only items made in Maryland – a number of which are local! Check it out if you’re in the neighborhood – they have classes and craft nights, too.
3/12/24 – Heave – You might need to heave a lot of bags of mulch to prepare your gardens! This place has literally tons to heave.
3/11/24 – Pesky – The WIND has been sooo pesky today, knocking over dumpsters, and providing a squirrel with a people-food snack. Pesky wind!
3/10/2024 – Grasp – This utility box celebrates Lakeland heritage in old Lakeland in College Park, including a woman grasping a microphone, a person grasping a baseball bat, and apparently individuals with paint on their hands who had grasped the pole protecting the box.
