ParticipantI think I should park my road bike under that section, and “wait” for a boulder to smash the top tube… this way I can get a new bike

ParticipantIf you can’t outrun the dog, hop off and keep your bike between you and it. I’ll also +1 the water bottle squirt…

ParticipantI just bought several of these:
http://www.trisports.com/ultimate-support-rakk-bicycle-storage-stand.html?Color=BLK&gclid=Cj0KEQiAq_SkBRC3jLvJ1IPt2eIBEiQASUZy18TYPGvhcKSQR-U08peh5XwDOO8flyb8L27_sh1A3oMaAlk08P8HAQVery easy to use, the bike stays put, and you can hook them together if you have more than one bike!

ParticipantTwo other good trail networks for a beginner are Conway-Robinson in Manassas, and Meadowood just south of Lorton

ParticipantTonight, I got caught off-guard by the darkness while riding back to my car on the W&OD. In Leesburg, I picked up a tail from another cyclist with a headlight, and he stayed on my 6 almost all the way to Sterling. Without his help, I wouldn’t have been able to keep a decent pace, and probably would have taken a while longer to get back… Never stopped to get his name, and he never pulled up beside to talk… So, if you read this- THANKS A LOT!!!

ParticipantRoad the western half of the W&OD today. Trail was clear, smooth and fast!

ParticipantWhen I was younger I could do it all day long… Now? I’ll crash so hard I’ll leave a crater….
I think it has to do with the extra- Uhm- “baggage” I have now… LOL

ParticipantI’ve been riding SPD mountain bike pedals for about 15 years… I like them so much, I just moved my old SPD’s to my road bike, and put new SPD’s on the mountain bike!

ParticipantYup, first time commuter this morning, and I’m hooked!!!! My commute was from the gainesville area up to just west of Route 28 in Chantilly. The roads I took consisted of mainly 234, 29, and finally Pleasant Valley Road. I did stop to help two other first timers- The first was dehydrated, and had NO WATER!!! Gave him my free B2WD bottle, that I had filled up with gatorade at the pit-stop; and the second was a nice lady with a flat tire… When I asked where her spare or patch kit were, she had neither  Slapped on a quick patch, aired her up, and she was on her way again!!!
We couldn’t have asked for better weather this morning either!!! Sunny, 60 degrees, and minimal wind!!! Wow what a morning!!!
