Participant@AlanA – yes, and in the suburbs too – although the one near my house is strictly tied to the school zone.

The Cloud by Donald Lipsky, 2016
Inspired by the Bhutanese architecture found on the University of Texas, El Paso, campus, artist Donald Lipsky designed a three sided cloud that arises from a sunken roundabout that also functions as a pedestrian underpass. Bhutan is known as âthe kingdom in the clouds.â Â The Cloud is constructed from thousands of hinged enameled stainless steel flaps that gently move in the breeze. Â (I can testify to this, because when I was in the underpass, I could hear the flapping of the metal pieces as they were moved around by the wind.)

Participant3/2/24 El Paso station number three
I had run out of convenient fire stations, so I dropped off playing. But when I stopped for a  break today, I looked across the street and thought, âAlan needs a photo of this one!â

Participant2/29/24 Tunnel
tunnels are hard to come by in this desert, but this is a three-way pedestrian tunnel near the university that has probably saved many lives. It is open in the center with a piece of sculptural artwork high above. I couldnât quite get them all in the photo, but I did at least get the tunnel.

Participant3/1/24. With the limits on weight for military families during a move, I suspect this piece of sculpture gets handed off from family to family.
