I think I saw KayakCyndi on a fast bike, eastbound on Custis ~3:50pm around the Lee Hwy overpass.
Definitely wasn’t me. I only WISH I could ride my fast bike and ride it fast. No, I’m riding only slow bikes slowly for the next few weeks but at least I’m RIDING!

ParticipantAh ha. I ran into that too and was diverted UP a hill which I was not expecting. Glad to know it wasn’t anything more (and that my I still pedal uphill albeit slowly).

Fletcher’s Boathouse is an inadequate reference to “tippy canoe.”
Take a pic of a bike by my 15″ wide sprint kayak. It is a tippy canoe!

ParticipantSaw Shawn this morning near the 50 and Annandale light. I was quite envious of him on his bike. I was stuck in my car heading to the metro for the first day back in the office in 10.

Elevated Alcohol Levels(puppies must fit in there somewhere)
That sounds shocking like tradeshow season. All except that rest part. The ice cream, coffee and alcohol have all been had in abundance!

We have three people on the waiting list, and all teams are reporting full. I will probably reach out to those people tonite but what I will probably propose is Slacker Team Duex – they can participate but wont be going fir first.
You could add one to team three. Sadly I’ve managed to hurt my hamstring and am uncertain of riding ability.

Must be nice to be young and resiliant, when I fall things get damaged (usually body parts).
Yep, last time I fell (Saturday) my clothes were fine, my hamstring not so much. Fortunately stuck in Germany so not riding is less painful than it would be if I was home and enduring looking at my bikes and riding the metro.

And Tim Kelley has spent all year trying to figure out how to take it from her.
He can stop plotting. I lost all the QOMs shortly thereafter when a gaggle of professional mountain bikers descended upon Nepal for a multi-day race through the himalaya!
I’m handing out the king/queen of the world award this year to whoever rides on the most continents so yes, ride on!

A shorter ride is the Colonial National Historic Parkway, 23 miles connecting Jamestown, Williamsburg and Yorktown. The road is open to cars and the surface is rough. You can ride skinny tires but it’s better not to go too fast if you do. You wouldn’t want to ride fast anyway. That would defeat the purpose of riding there.

However, I don’t know of any pleasant bike routes between Northern Virginia and Williamsburg. I guess it’s doable, but that route doesn’t sound too appealing.
One of my usual and favorite routes. I’d also add in the road around Jamestown island and the expanding Virginia capital trail!

any reports from the Custis/W&OD? I was thinking surface streets, but Hans had a few pics of the W&OD being plowed
I left the office with fear in my heart and headed across the Key Bridge. It wasn’t too cold and the wind had died down. I decided that I’d risk riding up the Custis, ruts and all. I had studs after all.
When I started up the trail it was clear. Not clear as in the snow melted but clear as in plowed! Yep, all the way from Rosslyn to the east falls church metro Arlington County cleared the MUPs. Who do we thank?
There was still a little ice and snow hear and there but nothing super scary, no frozen ruts and no frozen foot tracks. It was amazing.

Let’s do it again!
That was such fun! Is it wrong that the first thing I did upon arriving home was gently towel off the bike and bring it indoors so as to not refreeze before tomorrow’s ride?
