I believe Arlington County is the owner of it and a ticket will hopefully get it fixed. The post part has a sensor that detects peds so they’ll not be counted.

Unsure who to report this to, the wooden post where the bike counter at the Eastern side of the path around Arlington Cemetery is on the ground. Unsure if this affects data gathering.

It was knocked over last Sunday morning sometime between 8:30 and noon.

A ped/bike signal at the Washington Street deck has been removed from the crossing at Bridgeyard Apartments. Can’t tell if it was intentional, the result of an accident, or some other reason. I hope nobody gets hit by cars turning off South Washington. It’s about 100 yards from where I was hit by a car turning across the MVT in 2019.

I rode it this AM. I can’t see many occasions when it would really be a useful route for me. I don’t need to get to the Rte 1 east side sidewalk very much, either north or south of here. Easier ways to get to Potomac Avenue in either direction. It seems mostly useful for people accessing the park itself from the 4MRT. OTOH if and when there is any kind of connection, official or unofficial, through the park to Potomac Avenue (I did not check that out this AM) that could be useful.

This one is great for me since I go to Potomac Yard and Crystal City a lot and hate crossing Route 1. When I’m hauling the trailer or riding the GSD I can’t make the turns on the switchback.

Uh-oh. Me, too. Mine is probably not as good as yours, though.
However, I’m a bit of an asshole, so it’s more apt.

I can be Good Trump and you can be Evil Trump.

It’s time for a roll call to get the group organized. Who’s attending? What’s your costume? What distance were you planning on doing?

Steve O – Donald Trump – Middle Route
Sarah Bee – Witch Hunt – Not the long route
LOTM – Redacted Document – Middle Route
Chris R – Retired State Department Employee on a Bike –

    Who else?

All right. I’m going with a Trump costume. You’re not going to believe how good my costume is going to be. People are saying that it’s the best Halloween costume that they’ve ever seen.

Accidentally had a bike lock in my backpack the last time I flew. DCA pulled it out and a supervisor was consulted. Las Vegas didn’t care on the return flight.

Well, it’s been nearly 5 years since dockless bikeshare came to the DMV and much has changed. Helbiz recently started placing e-bikes in Alexandria. Unlike other bikes, they appear to have a mid-drive motor with an IGH in the back. The wheels had solid rubber tires like the old Mobikes did. I didn’t try one out because it looked like it was small like the original dockless bikes.

Any updates when the Rock Creek tunnel bypass is going to open? I thought it was supposed to open by end of July but can’t find any updates anywhere.

I saw on Twitter somewhere that it was delayed because of a supply issue with the railings. Someone posted a picture yesterday showing the railing being installed, so it should hopefully be soon.

Spotted both huskerdont on the Four Mile Run detour near the power plant today but recognized so late that I only got out, “gahh, hey!”

Also saw Subby stiff arming cars as he turned on to Four Mile Run Drive from Shirlington Road.
