A point of clarification, this won’t really connect to the Potomac Yard Trail until they build the park at some later date. This phase 1 trail connection connects to the Route 1 side only.

Won’t get rid of the switchback this phase but it’s pretty easy to get from Route 1 to the Potomac Yard Trail on the sidewalk or the road access behind the apartment building.

I’m riding the long tail a lot these days and end up taking circuitous routes and crossing Route 1 to avoid the switchback.

Work was well underway this morning. The desire path from the Route 1 trail was blocked by the plastic silt control fencing.

“You kids get off my lawn!!!”

Don’t worry. Just kidding, even though this is my back “lawn.”

Glad to see this work taking place.

Judd , we snotty neighbors want you to know these are “condos” not “apartments” lest you believe we are so utterly plebeian as to be “renters.”

(Again kidding.) And so far, I have heard nary a disparaging word from folks here at The Eclipse about the proposed changes. Hopefully no dissent will be forthcoming.

Meanwhile, while Karen is stirring the pot over her lawn, construction has moved into the Alexandria portion of the park near the Four Mile Run Trail.

The view from @handbagcycles backyard as of today’s lunch hour. Looks like she now has a 2nd bathroom!

That would be a 3rd bathroom (a powder room). We live luxuriously here at The Eclipse at Center Park.

More progress on the South Park Short Bridge project. Spoke to a contractor this morning, weather permitting, they hope to be finished with the paving by the end of next week. He wasn’t sure when the trail would be open to the public.

Just tempering expectations here – if I recall correctly this is only going to connect over to Route 1 for now – the connection back to the Potomac Yard Trail won’t come until the park itself is built in 2025.

While there might not be a direct connection, I think some intrepid souls might replicate the desire path that was in place before construction began.

The desire path is in the general vicinity of the new trail

This part of the desire path is mere feet from the newtrail segment. The sidewalk leads to the Potomac Yard Trail

The concrete trail is finished, but more work remains, before the trail will be opened.
