Is there a way to submit written comments?
While there is no formal proposal before the County Board at this time, one can always write to the Members about issues involving the County. Their email addresses are linked here.

There is one final meeting scheduled for Tuesday, January 14, 2014, also 7pm at the Parks Operation Conference Center, 2700 S. Taylor St., Arlington.

HenryKeymasterFYI, here’s the architects rendering of what the new Phoenix Bikes building could look like. Hope to see some friendlies in the crowd on Saturday.

Thanks for the suggestion. Could be a Bike to School Day addition as well. We’ll check into it.

Actually, I’m not sure if the credit card reader is working. I assumed it was, because the temporary “not working” sign was gone, and the electronic display now has a welcome message from Phoenix Bikes.
Yeah it wasn’t. Fixed it yesterday. Internal plug was in the wrong slot.
Plus we added the 650cc tubes and a bell. More have been ordered.
HenryKeymasterThanks, everyone, for the comments. Yes we can reposition the lights (the packaging may need to trimmed b/c they kept jamming in the bottom trays). Will also add more Clif bar flavors, 650cc tubes, and bells in the coming days. Outside decals explaining what it is are also on order. Official launch and much publicity to follow.
And I’ll need to check out the credit card reader which has magically started working (I’m not aware that anyone from my organization did anything to it).

Henry, any preview of what you guys plan to stock it with?
There was a thread several weeks ago where I asked what people would want (We’re not doing donuts). Obviously we’ll stock what people want/need to buy. It will be the most common tube sizes and elementary tools at first. We’ll branch out and experiment as time goes on. If you have suggestions, post them here or shoot me an email: henry@phoenixbikes.org. Thanks.
HenryKeymasterWe’re glad everyone is excited about this. We are, too, though we have to admit we’re scrambling a bit as both CCBID and we were told it wouldn’t arrive until Sept. Anyway, we hope to have it up and running in the next few days. I’d especially like to thank the good folks at the CCBID for initiating this partnership. Yet another positive for cycling in Arlington/DC.

The new building is, I believe, spec’d for George Mason and Four Mile Run trail. Fund raiser coming up!
While the fact is a move has been in the works for some time, we are still months away from even breaking ground, much less renting the U-Haul. Many public meetings, MOU negotiations, and permitting hurdles yet to clear (plus money to be raised) before we get there. I’m happy to talk with anyone off-forum if they’ve a desire to help us get there.
In the mean time, please come visit us at our current location in Barcroft Park.
And the new place is being spec’d for Walter Reed and Four Mile Run, right off the W&OD Trail at the base of Superman Hill (as the local kids call it).
Finally, thank you Kevin for the tools. They will help fill out several tool boxes that had missing tools.

There is one bike rider in particular that that travels at about the same time as I do but in the opposite direction of my daily route who I wish would wave.:o
Perhaps you should make your wishes known there.
For the record, I am mostly an “acknowledger” and not an “initiator”. Assume others are like me and mostly enjoying the too-brief journey along the unwired path of solitude.
I do wave at cars and mouth “thank you” to the drivers at intersections who don’t act like they want to kill me (even if it’s what they are supposed to do).

You guys find a box of old bike media materials in a closet or something?
HenryKeymasterAnd in a shameless plug, the Do More 24 campaign was extended for another day. Henry

I think the vending machine will be sponsored by the Crystal City Business Improvement District and operated by Phoenix. As I understand it, the location will probably be in the CC Water Park where there is security and traffic. .
All correct. It’s an experiment and we’ll re-evaluate after a few months. Signage TBD.

Did we mention honey stinger waffles? Just making sure.
Given that the machine will be out in the sun.
HenryKeymasterThanks for all the suggestions. Once the thing arrives, we’ll get a sense of how many slots it will have (I assume it can be configured many ways, holding less variety to accommodate larger stuff). Hopefully we’ll be making a joint announcement with CCBID before the end of the month.
