ParticipantTo the teenager walking in the rain on the WOD this morning around Ohio Street: Thank you for looking back before crossing the trail, and then signaling your intentions before running to the walk bridge so as to not slow me down…. you have more wisdom and sense than most of the adults on the trail. Kudos!

ParticipantCitizens Bridge on the WOD was pretty slick this morning around 8:30, but other than that a pretty un-eventful ride considering WTOP was reporting the end of the world as we know it (cue REM).

Yes please.
I’m pretty sure a certain local custom cabinetmaker and artist would build you one of those for a small (ahem) fee

ParticipantI bought my single speed Globe Daily One from A-1 cycling years ago in Herndon…. not exactly in Centreville, but it was an excellent experience and maybe worth checking out. Friendly staff who knew there stuff and the mechanic on duty at the time was excellent. I really liked the casual and unpretentious atmosphere. Hopefully it hasn’t changed.

Participant*Update: Cleaning my rain gear (Endura Flight rain jacket, ShowerPass Convertible pants, P.I. booties) in NikWax tech wash and then using the wash-in to reactivate the DWR has made my gear work amazingly well (thanks Dirt for the tip), in fact I think it actually breathes better as well. Add to that the acquisition of some Sealskinz waterproof gloves and a gifted gore waterproof hat from consularrider and I have never been happier in the rain. Riding 40+ miles in constant rain was actually pleasant. I arrived home completely dry from hands to feet… amazballs!

ParticipantGot a nice Low Five from Fraction Man himself on the Troll Bridge, then another attempt with sjclaeys later on, and success with GB on the WOD… I’m a low five ninja! Think I spotted Lordofthemark riding through the Roosevelt Island parking lot this morning around 7:00am. Good forum day!

ParticipantMy brother in law is teaching at the peabody Conservatory and has been hanging out with Mr. Dolby as they are co-workers. I have begged him for an introduction….having a drink with him would be icing on the cake.

Been kind of a busy week since I bought Bert (my new Surly Pugsley Ops) but I took him out for a spin on the Greenway on Saturday. So much fun to ride but riding through the snow and ice was like riding through wet sand. A great legs and heart workout but I only managed to ride eight miles in an hour.
8 MPH on a fat tire bike… in deep snow… in MN cold is pretty frigg’n fast if you ask me. Kudos buddy!

ParticipantHaving read an entire thread about an event I do not intend to participate in should earn me a Master’s of something right? Master’s of stupidity, procrastination, OCD, fear of missing out….. something.

I have reports on the “WODCO” trail. Started in Bethesda before sunrise, rode the C&O to White’s Ferry, crossed to VA and picked up the W&OD. Fought nasty headwinds down to the Custis, crossed the Potomac again at Key Bridge, ride the C&O to Fletchers and picked up the Capitol Crescent to Bethesda to complete the loop shortly after dusk.
Oh, yeah. The trails were fine, though lots of wet spots on the C&O.
Was that you stopped on the WOD around 2:30 next to Shreve road? I stopped to see if two riders were OK. Turns out they had been riding since dawn and were taking a break. I offered nutrition and drinks but they declined.

ParticipantI got to BFCC around 7:15 and stuck around just enough to see the folks piling in before I headed to work. I left just after 8:00 and in enough time to see dkel and Rockford pace-lining their way along 4MR. Great too see everyone, wish I could have hung around longer.

Ian – Did you pass me on the MVT just south of Gravelly Point this evening? Me: Purple Bridgestone XO-1 with moustache bars and two panniers. You: Celeste Bianchi with backpack. I figure anyone who announces their pass so politely with a thank you for my acknowledgement and running steady lights must be a forum member.
Most likely Ian, but I was heading North tonight on the MVT on a celeste Bianchi with a backpack politely calling my passes…. did Ian sound British or have a speech impediment? If so it might have been me.

What are folks’ thoughts about HDCC tomorrow morning? If I go, it will need to be at the quasi-usual time.
I expect to be there normal time (7:00am), hopefully I’m not the only idiot in the freezing rain risking it all for Bacon Cheddar Scones.

ParticipantPretty Sure I spotted you on Friday’s commute home. Were you heading South on the MVT near Gravely point around 5:00?
