You: Driving in the middle lane of Old Georgetown Road southbound yelling, “Sidewalk!” as though that was where I should be riding.
Me: Cycling in the right turn only lane next to you, cheerfully calling back, “You’re an idiot!”
You: Going straight ahead at the next light, proving you couldn’t have used the lane I was in anyway. And no one else was turning right, either, so it’s not even like I was causing other cars to stay in your lane longer than they otherwise would have.

Seriously? ! It’s bad enough when drivers tell me to get off the road (and pedestrians tell me to get off the sidewalk; presumably they expect my bike to be able to fly?) normally. But why would you do this when I’m not even slowing you down in the slightest?

Are any of the other places doing the whole week? Crystal City is about 2 hours away from me, and I hate mornings, so the likelihood I will get there before 9:00 AM is pretty slim.

I do wonder about the effectiveness of a program for low-income people that requires a doctor’s visit to get started, though. Even assuming the visit is free under Medicaid, taking the time off from work and getting to the doctor’s office may be a big barrier to entry for low-income people. Given that we don’t require a doctor’s note for far more hazardous activities than biking–driving, for example–I don’t know why it should be required for this.

Any low-income patient is eligible to receive a $5 membership from a physician, so long as the person doesn’t have a medical condition like a seizure disorder that could make biking dangerous. The program’s costs are being borne by the city, rather than any health insurance provider.”

Yeah, I don’t actually buy many of the products. But the idea that my miles can be used to make charitable donations gives me a little extra motivation.

This is f’ing cool. Not sure how much I’ll end up buying with my credits, but I just joined. If nothing else, I can give to/help out charities. Thanks!

Go Sport ID is a similar product, which seems to be a little less expensive. I have one that gets laced onto my shoe.

And you can get $10 off on Go Sport ID for 150 points at Earndit. For anyone who doesn’t know, Earndit gives you points for exercise (as measured by Garmin, Fitbit, MapMyFitness, etc.) which you can then use for discounts on products or to make charity donations. For bicycling, you get 3 points per mile, so 150 points isn’t all that hard to get.

The Bridge to Nowhere is to be distinguished from the Bridge Over Nothing, which is located on the Capital Crescent Trail just north of the Dalecarlia Tunnel. Apparently “Bridge Over Water Treatment Plant” didn’t sound all that appealing.

The Bridge to Nowhere is the pedestrian bridge over 66 at the top of the hill-like structure in the Moguls.

The Twin Sisters are the hill climbing to the bridge over the off-ramp at Glebe Road.

Is the Tunnel of Love the underpass under 66 at Westover Park? Ewww….

Cheap option may be the best right now, as the problem won’t last much longer. At 7, my daughter rode her own bike with us from Bethesda to Harper’s Ferry and back.

I’d probably go with a trail-a-bike. Definitely the cheapest option. Or make the kid pedal their own bike. :)

I have to say, this is tempting, particularly after the winter we’ve just had. (I’d love to have something more sure-footed than my hybrid for those snowy days!) But I’m not sure how I’d even figure out whether it was my size, etc., so if you get someone who has a greater need than mine, feel free to give it to them instead.

I could store it in our shed, but since I’m in Bethesda, I don’t know that would do you a whole lot of good.

Yep, you’re in. You should be able to check at this link to see whether your ride or rides have been credited. It looks like it’s crediting rides for the past week, even if you just joined today.

I changed to public but just now I double check and it changed back to private. Maybe something I did wrong. I changed it back to public and saved changes. Hopefully it will take. I need to go for a bike ride soon, will try later to resolve issues. Bear with me.

Me, either. I have nagged them again. Everyone should please feel free to comment on my post–ones with other people chiming in seem to get more attention.

Just so long as you’re not actually risking a punctured lung by riding with a broken clavicle. Something tells me that would be worse than a delay on I-66!

This is bizarre! When I look at it in Firefox, it specifically says, “No comments.” And if I click on those words, it takes me to the end of the page, where there are in fact no comments. However, in Chrome, it says there are 67 comments. Apparently, it’s a browser issue.
