ParticipantWhat I love about the Kill Bill V2 route is that there are lots of sharp right turns followed by an immediate climb! That way you lose most of your momentum before you even start. I see you have V3 which includes the agony of 41st from Chain Bridge that was missing from my V2 cue sheet (is there a V1?). Is it really only 1300 feet of elevation gain?

ParticipantThat’s on my route and starts about the time I leave home. What a nice thing your daughter is thinking of doing!

You’re right – that is a dangerous intersection which is why they have a Stop sign.
It has nothing to do with the intersection being “dangerous.” It seems in this area just about all MUP intersections with streets have a stop sign for the MUP users whether or not there is also a traffic light controling the intersection or whether the MUP is parallel to a main road and the cross street has a stop sign and the MUP should have the right of way.

ParticipantWe certainly have seen a increase in morning activity with the high afternoon temperatures. Conversely, I hardly have to use my bell after getting off the Mt Vernon Trail in the evening.

ParticipantIt was gone yesterday afternoon.

ParticipantNot just tubes, but also tires?

ParticipantI asked a Conte’s a couple of months ago when I no longer saw their bin outside. I was told they are no longer doing it because it wasn’t cost effective. Someone else should also ask just to make sure. I have been looking for other outlets in the area without success.
Why does it seem like I’m always supplying negative information?

ParticipantDon’t know anything, but from the other similar projects in the area so far this summer (Arlington Mill and 4 Mile Run S), it seems to take about two weeks to get the repaving done once the layer of asphalt was removed.

ParticipantI think he means the light across the stream from the Pizza Hut, so the it would still be in Arlington, while the condition and width of whole length of the sidewalk leading from Valley Dr down to 4 Mile Run in Alexandria is not conducive to cycling anyway. Lately when I decide I want to go left on W Glebe up to Valley, I have taken the underpass, then turn on to S 4 Mile Run Dr back to W Glebe. A little more convoluted, but does avoid playing dodgems at the light. Of course, I’m only taking this route to add milage to my normal commute anyway, so it’s not an inconvenience. Your best chance to cross at the light comes when there is traffic coming off S 4 Mile Run Dr, but you can’t count on that and the light for them is very short. It’s curious that there was never a pedestrian walk light there before the new 4 Mile Run Trail extension was put in.

ParticipantI noticed bike racks inside the entrance to the parking garage off Glebe Rd by the Rock Bottom.

ParticipantJust a heads up on this sealing. There are a couple of wider patches that get very soft in the hot sun. Be careful because they can grab your tires.

ParticipantDidn’t see them this morning.

I think I had a BD siting today. I was heading East on the Custis down into Rosslyn and I think the BD was stopped at a light heading West (on it’s way up the Rosslyn hill) around 5pm. It took me a minute to figure out where I’d seen the BD before. I should have turned around to introduce myself and just head home – I ended up flatting 3 times in the next 5 miles.
We all must have been on the same section about the same time. Saw them heading up from Roosevelt Island just before 5 pm.

Crossing into DC to the start.I don’t know what time the Roosevelt Bridge shot was taken, but I didn’t see a single cyclist on my ride to the event (started at 6:30 am in the pouring rain) between the W&OD/Custis intersection, across the Roosevelt Bridge and past the White House until I turned on 15th St.
