While I’m not going to hazard a guess on the location, I see that I only need to get a more colorful helmet — mine’s all black — so I can cause all sorts of mayhem and blame it on Certifried. Tourists beware!
are we doppelgangers or something? I find it hard to believe anyone else is quite as ugly!

ParticipantI figured I would go ahead and get in on this game, especially since (inspired by Dirt) I picked up a little point-n-shoot this weekend so I could take some pix

OK, probably not too hard. I’m not good at being sneaky 😎

ParticipantA friend at work, who I have been able to now talk in to not only buying a bike but to also start commuting 17 miles
, was supposed to ride over the Wilson bridge today. He got to the bridge, and he believed the bike path was completely closed. He biked up in to DC, then across the Frederick-Douglas bridge instead, adding about 8 miles to his commute.
Was the bridge actually open to bicycle traffic? He says he spoke to a construction worker who told him the bike path was completely closed until 3pm.

The Tapatalk app is pretty good, huh? I just d/l’ed it the other day. Only wish you could “Like” posts directly from it.
It works great, especially if you have multiple forums you visit. The “like” functionality is probably supplied by a plug-in. It can get pretty difficult to try and support all the features that plug-ins can offer
You can, however, “open post in browser” and like it that way, though it is a lot more cumbersome. The only thing I hate is my phone, the Galazy nexus is a piece of crap!
I was perfectly comfortable with the temperatures this morning, but I don’t start my ride until about 7am. I just had on a jersey (oh, and shorts of course).

ParticipantI have a KOM where it measured my ride down the hill instead. I’ve tried to invalidate it. Could it maybe have been someone going down the hill that strava misinterpreted?

ParticipantWow, I was going to post just about the same thing: how incredibly awesome my ride in was. So great to see I wasn’t the only one enjoying it immensely
P. S. To be honest, it was a last minute decision to ride today.

So we’ve got 1/8th, ConsularRider, and Dirt. Who else is going to be doing T200 this weekend from the forum?
I am a volunteer! I’ll be mingling with the DC Tri folks.

There are no hills so you can’t coast, which means you are always pedaling, which can be quite taxing if you aren’t prepared for it.
Wait, you don’t pedal down hills?! That’s when I pedal the hardest LOL

I should hold some sort of grudge against every individual from Maryland or Pennsylvania and threaten them all
Definitely. Every single time I come up on a slow-moving car in the fast lane, it *always* has Pennsylvania plates!

ParticipantI was hoping someone with a lot more info would post first. I’m not a female, but I think the same rules pretty much apply to anyone when it comes to personal safety.
Here is an excellent article on night safety while walking, I don’t think cycling is necessarily much different and the same rules should apply
http://walking.about.com/od/weather/a/nightwalking4.htm
The extra caution for cycling would be visibility. You’re not just facing danger from attack, you’re facing danger from not being seen in the road (if there’s no trail). So, make sure you’re high-vis, bright reflective clothing, flashy lights (bright ones, not junk from target ones), reflectors, etc.
The extra thing I do carry is a little can of pepper spray. I keep it for dogs (yes, officer, protection from dogs). In my searching I found that it’s legal in all the states and DC, but basically DC and Maryland say if you can justify your carrying of it (fear of dogs, fear of assault) then you are legal. I’m not advocating a violent response to a mugging, just give them the wallet. If it’s more than a mugging, however, then it’s better to be prepared.
