2/27/24 SENSE Some people have a sixth sense call ESP (extra-sensory perception). @Boomer shared this mural on the back of the ESP Tea and Coffee Shop in Old Town on the Alexandria Public Art Ride, so I had to go back to get the photo again, and better. It was between this and the sculpture of FDR in a wheel chair (loss of a sense of touch)

    2/27/24 Lichtenstein

    Brushstroke
    Roy Lichtenstein
    1996-97, painted aluminum, 32’ high
Lent by the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden

Roy Lichtenstein burst on the art scene in the early 1960s with paintings inspired by comic books; today they look disarming and playful, but when new, they seemed shockingly irreverent. For three decades, he amusingly used an isolated brushstroke as the emblem of high art. Then Lichtenstein created his first Brushstrokesculptures, giving fluid “paint” a free-standing physical presence. The monumentality of this example evokes the heroism of the abstract expressionist painters, while its rapid calligraphic energy belies its static form. 2/26/24 OFTEN It is not OFTEN that one is selected for jury duty (15%chance in Arlington stated by Clerk of Court) and gets a rooftop view of the Potomac River in a beautiful sunny 10th floor window. Biked here this morning (even lower chance of that happening).

2/25/24 Did not take a photo of a flag (only saw one flag that was not the American flag). Refuse to take a pic of the Confederate flag

2/23/24 As ai photographed this mural of John Langston, i walked around The corner of the building and there was a Arlington County sign about a scavenger hunt for black history. It had a QR code and a link to a scavenger hunt map and with educational videos including history of the sites on the hunt. Turns out, that this mural is the last of the clues. I plan to visit the sites by bike to learn more about black history in Arlington. I did learn that Miss Sam San Diego is in the mural.

2/23/24 it took great restraint, not to return in my car to take the sign, which you cannot see very well in this picture because I hidit so that no one else would grab it before I got back with my car. It said something like “live with passion, laugh out loud, love always.” I have a tendency to want to pick up things and save them from the landfill, but I don’t need any more stuff in my house.

2/23/24 APART these chairs in front of Marymount University caught my eye because of how they were set APART from one another. Maybe this is it was a holdover from Covid pods? But also sets this submission apart from prior ones is that I now understand that this is a photography contest as much as it is a scavenger hunt (Thanks for clarifying that @kelley. I misunderstood and thought the hunt was the point. Now I get it. Slow to the party. With that, I present you CHAIRS APART…[NSFW].
