    Mural by Baltimore-born artist Nether410, painted on a wall on Ring Rd adjacent to the pedestrian bridge that crosses I-495. It was commissioned by Tysons Corner Center and the Tysons Community Alliance.

    Without the art on this outdoor gym, it can be hard for me to tell how to use the equipment. Plus it’s artistically designed.

    2/12/24 At Calvert-Wood Liquor Store.  The mural says, “Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much. – Helen Keller.”  But the words are formed into a design, with little human figures between them.

    2/13 – Muse Condominiums Sculptures by Jeff Chyatte (2022) in Old Town North Alexandria VA.

    The Muse is home to The Art League, Inc. a 501 organization founded in 1954, and a multi-service organization for visual artists, as well as the founding organization of the Torpedo Factory Art Center in Alexandria, VA

    Sunday, 02/18/2023 (9:30 AM) Arlandria Public Art Ride & Wormhole Fun Ride

    Explore public art in Alexandria and Arlington, as well as several very impressive wormholes, and a bonus stop at the Pentagon 911 Memorial. We’ll also enjoy a coffee stop (~10am) at St Elmo’s, and a lunch stop after the ride at Lost Dog Café, both in Del Ray. If you’re playing #publicartfinder this is a chance score some points, and perhaps even bonus points! This fun ride will be led by @boomer2u (originator and longtime sponsor of this game), lover of public art and wormholes, and this year’s #publicartfinder sponsor, @karenbikes2. The route is a mashup of public art rides by @Komorebi for ALX BPAC and @FastFriendlyGuy for Bike Arlington.

         

    Start/End Point: Frank Mann Field next to Cora Kelly School, 3700 Commonwealth Ave, Alexandria, VA 22305.

    Time: 9:30 AM – 1-ish PM

    There will be numerous opportunities to bail if you only have time for part of the ride. We’lll pass 4 metro stations, and cross 4-Mole Run and Mt Vernon trails.

    Participation is open to all who can ride a bike and is at your own risk so please wear a helmet, use bike lights and obey all road rules/trail etiquette!
