Yesterday evening it was culimerc heading east about 5:30 on the W&OD approaching the Dulles Toll Road and this morning there was dismalscientist heading south on George Mason approaching the I-66 overpass.

I think I saw Rolo westbound on the WOD in Vienna this morning. Definitely saw Bilsko, amazed at how far away he spotted me at closing speeds.

I saw my wife at Thomas Circle this morning. It speaks to the mess that 14th St is that she caught me on a CaBi.

Then I saw a cabbie announce his intention to fail to yield to cyclists traveling legally in the bike lane by a bunch of short taps on his horn.

Great to see you! Glad we just skipped the whole akward do I slow down and turn around in the middle of the trail dance and kept riding to our respective workplaces. Not that I didn’t want to stop and chat, but those little circly dances are always, well, akward.

Also, I got to see 1/8th in front of the White House, but I still haven’t met him so I figured yelling out “Tom!!!” amidst SS and tourists would have been a bad move.

Saw Dismalscientist this evening on Ohio St. going over 66. I was going the opposite direction from Westover.

Saw ConsularRider briefly on his hooky ride this morning. Sorry I didn’t recognize you sooner.

Then I rode with ArlingtonRider from Gravelly Point and she told me about her new 5 pound, carbon, road eating machine.

And topped it off with a Dickie sighting on the Custis.

Then I got a flat and all my tire levers broke. Thanks to the cyclist who helped me out with the aerosol flat fixer. But it didn’t take.

It was a pretty good day anyway.

Shawn – I’m sorry I wasn’t there this afternoon to help you out – I had my Pedro’s levers with me. I’m glad you had a pretty good day in spite of the flat! (btw, the new machine isn’t really five pounds and it doesn’t eat roads, but it is nice to have a real live road bike to ride sometimes. )

Hope to see you and your lovely daughter on Saturday if you’re able to make it. I’ll post our plans for getting to Tour de Fat on the Group Rides tab tomorrow in case anyone wants to meet in Shirlington for the ride over. I’m thinking maybe Best Buns around 9:15 a.m. or so for a leisurely ride over?
