Dickie
ParticipantPretty sure I crossed paths with DCV as well this morning, or his doppelganger. You were heading East up the hill on the Custis just after the HWY66 underpass, I was heading west in a white jacket on my black Cannondale, bundled up like the Michelin man. I said quick hi with a nod of my head a slight eyebrow raise, if it wasn’t you some random guy on a sexy fixie feels like he was hit on this morning!

I was on the trail around that time but don’t remember this, I’m riding this bike today. Maybe it wasn’t me? what color was the bike?
Every time I see a LeMond named after a European city, it makes me sing “New York, London, Paris, Munich, Everybody talk about…. Pop music.”

Then I think you have a doppelganger, who says hi to random strangers. I thought I saw you on the Cenelli (I double checked the pic in the “what’s you name” thread). You may not have noticed the close call with the lady – she dismounted right as you passed, and I was a bit behind, so it may not have been that close. Anyway…
Dickie, I must of passed you, too — I was headed East on the Custis from the Italian Store to Rosslyn, ahead of dcv (I think) until the top of the Rosslyn hill. I have the purple ebike (that was super slow this am) with an UGLY egg crate on the back. Though I don’t remember passing anyone coming West…

In the morning I ride through Rosslyn/Clarendon/Ballston on Fairfax Drive and meet the Custis at that point so sadly we didn’t cross paths today.

I saw you too, will keep an eye out for a black C’Dale going the other way. Next time flag me down for a Sighting pic.

Another Cinelli!? not sure this town is big enough for 2 of us. Maybe it was VVill on his gray / silver Kona Jake, similar color with drop bars.

ParticipantHey dasgeh/dcv, it was me. I was on my GTR which is mostly gray/silver/black with bits of yellow. I saw your BikeArlington scarf and the milk crate, slowed for a bit to say hi, figured it must’ve been someone I knew! Sorry I didn’t stop to chat, I was running late already.
The randomly dismounting woman wasn’t too bad, I always slow down a lot going down that hill.

“Where the men are robust, the women are pink cheeked, and the children are pink cheeked and robust.”
Is a Simpsons quote parodying Garrison too meta?

Ah! Mystery solved. I don’t think we’ve officially met. I totally understand not wanting to slow — that’s me every evening. Glad the random dismount didn’t throw you much. I was too far away to do anything, but saw it developing from afar and worried someone was going down…

Will do, You might also spot me on my road bike, a celest Bianchi SL3 with black forks, I will still look tired and over-dressed so at least that will be consistent!

ParticipantChatted with dcv this morning. Good to meet you and thanks for stopping, made my morning! I might have spotted Eminva as well, were you wearing a light blue jacket this morning? I was stuck behind the hipster with the skinny jeans so I didn’t see you until the last minute

ParticipantWe’ll see if DCV got to work in time for his 9:00 am call. After chatting with you he caught up with me. We rode for a bit and took some photos before he left me, and my very tired whose-idea-was-it-to-run-after-commuting-legs, in the dust!

ParticipantBeautiful morning commute, chatted with Dickie and KayakCyndi on the way in and still made it to work in time for a 9:00am conf call. Stupid work.
Dickie and his black CAADX
KayakCyndi and her vanilla / black Volagi Viaje (spotted that bike from a mile away)
I suspect we have two candidates for the next gravel grinder.

ParticipantAll those pictures look suspiciously close to where the W&OD crosses Shreve Rd.
