At about 6:30pm I was northbound and saw ArlingtonRider headed south on the MVT just before the exit to the 4MR, next to the airport.

Saw Dana being a Mench on the Custis.

Then saw DASGEH who said hello to Dana but musta assumed I was an ELITE rider.

Saw lots of poseurs (most of whom were passing me)

While it was nice enough that not too many riders were wearing balaclavas, there were so many out this evening it was hard to keep track of anyone, so no sightings to report. Was it a Washington Area Bike Forum member with flatbar Moosemitts (and what was with those on such a nice day?) on the W&OD near the Sycamore underpass who said hi to me??

Totally got passed by Dirt and Will out at Sugarloaf. Didn’t realize who they were until I saw the pink bike ride away.

Nice to see you, Pete! It was a great day to ride.

Must have missed you by a couple of minutes; I passed Rootchopper on the MVT just before getting to Roslyn.

Oh, sorry! Were you stopped as well, or were you riding? I so rarely see anyone, and I was so shocked that I saw Dana, that I was not looking out for seeing anyone else?

Oh, and I have an adorable (almost) 4-month-old who has decided to be the most adorable between 4 and 5am. (I’m not Dirt – 4am is not my friend)

Saw vvill late this morning southbound on Ohio. Undoubtedly headed down to HP to impose Team V dominance.

I was helping a rider resolve a flat and Bob was offering counsel. The rider now has a servicable tire with an undersized (23 in a 32 tire) tube, one presta and one shrader tube, and an understanding that giving a tube away is polite behavior. Bob learned that I can occasionally be a nice guy.

You guys are great. Before I saw you, I started to offer help. Half way through the sentence I realized the only useful thing I had on me was my cell phone. At least it was a good reminder to put my kit back on that bike.

Much better time to be doing it, winds were calm, now they’re back to the upper teens and gusting to the upper 20s! I think I’ll just ride home. :(

I did a lap. It was good in a bad way.

I did one lap too and then headed into the wind for the rest of my ride home. As my fellow Hoosier John Mellancamp said, “… Now that I’m gettin’ older, so much older … Hurts so good …”

I had a legitimate, two-way, recognized in time to say hi, sighting of DaveK yesterday on the trail near the Iwo Jima! So exciting!

BTW, the new traffic light on N Meade St at 14th St N is nice. Is that going to become permanent?
