I got an awesome Crysb smile on the W&OD on my way home.
That’s two sightings for Crysb today, I saw her westbound on the custis this morning somewhere in the middle of Arlington.
Then I think I just saw VVill eastbound on the custis at the Glebe road overpass. In much reflective garb and riding the mtb with studded tires? Heard the crackling on pavement.

Yup, that was me! I saw you too, although too late to really say hi. I was on the studded tires. I wanted to have as low a gear as possible for the Mardi Gras, and my fattest tires.

Yes, that was me! Sorry I didn’t catch on sooner; the sun was directly in my eyes so I didn’t see much beyond a sillouette until we were just about to pass.
Hope the Cedar Lane Ice Troll didn’t take you down.

ParticipantThis morning I was behind a dude on a blue hybrid, with a BA strap on their backpack and a bunch of BA blinkies on their bike. Followed you from somewhere west of the s-curve all the way to KenCen. If you’re on here, hi! I also realized that, by some forum members’ standard, I may have followed you too close. If so, I apologize…I was kinda zoning in and out and realized I got within a couple bike lengths of you a few times.

ParticipantI saw a very large racoon and three foxes at Hain’s Pt at sunset tonight. I know they were different foxes because they were all lined up on the street so no potential for double counting. Two big ones and one small. Family perhaps?
Now I’m hoping to see a wild turkey. I’ve seen them along the Anacostia in SE DC.

I included a Hain’s Point lap on my Sunday ride and had two foxes cut across from the Potomac, about a quarter mile apart, also one was smaller that the other. Just remember, there was an article in today’s Post about a woman bitten by a rabid fox in Rock Creek Park.
Also, I saw his Oneness starting down from the 14th St Bridge yesterday evening as I was getting ready to go under it. Doubt he saw me.

ParticipantGreat, another story to convince people that being outside is more dangerous than being in a car. The silver lining would be if fox fear makes people keep their cats inside so they stop killing all the native birds.

Just heard that a “woman walking her baby in Rock Creek Park” was bitten by a rabid fox. So, um, be careful. Though I guess being on a bike provides more protection.
On a side note, the only time I’ve seen foxes in the “wild” is when I’ve been alone with a baby, and I’ve immediately thought “that fox wants to eat my baby”. Irrational, but funny.

I grew up in a very rural area and we had a big problem with racoons going in the garden which they consumed like a buffet so we set out non-lethal traps for them. We’d catch some every night and one of my chores every morning was to drive the burglers a few miles away from home and let them go. They were very cute but somewhat smelly and made squeeks and groans. Even though they were caught they never acted aggressive. Don’t tell my dad but I would very often just let them go in the backyard because I was afraid of breaking up families. It was a shame they destroyed so many of the corn stalks though. It wasn’t so much fun catching skunks. A fisher cat once ate its way through the back of the cage (1 inch wood) overnight.
Anyway….I’m not at all worried about the foxes and racoon on HP; they look and act quite healthy. Now the people on the other hand…..

ParticipantI didn’t have a camera with me, but it was a very nice surprise to be greeted by the fraction man this morning on 3rd Street, NW. Hadn’t seen him since before he grew the ‘stache.
