Rode in with Subby this morning. Awesome to meet you, sir! Sorry I wasn’t more sociable. Early morning is my quiet time.
Great to meet you and no worries. Morning commute is sacrosanct, but I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to introduce myself. Thanks for letting me tag along. I only almost-wiped-out once!

You were awesome out there. The studded tires made it easy for me. You just rolled through it all with the 40mm street tires. Any time we hit icy/snowy sections I pulled away from you a little. Any time we were on pavement you caught right back up again. It was a good yo yo ride.
Rock on, sir!

Yarp. At least 1.5mm. There just isn’t room for the Tektro or Shimano brakes. I believe the Paul brake fits.
I blame the extra .5mm for all the drag…
Actually really glad I ditched the front brake this morning—not really all that useful in slippery conditions and I rode smarter and smoother knowing it wasn’t there.
Glad I had a chance to drop in and say hi, regret not having used the chance to properly introduce myself to some of the folks I recognized from the forum.January 26, 2013 at 12:43 am #960937Dirt

I have a headache.

Was there a second set of swervy / squiggly tracks next to those? That would’ve been me.
Nice mellow snow ride with 1/8 tonight:January 26, 2013 at 3:08 pm #960965consularrider

It will feel better once you remove the plane from your ear. It may have some problem passing through because of the extended wings. Hopefully the pilot retracted them before full entry.

Landing gear kinda stings a little.

From the photo Subby is obviously one of those morning people. Augh. They are a strange breed IMHO.

ParticipantCame up on Subby on Friday’s PM commute as he was negotiating the turn from 14 St Bridge to the southbound MVT in the ice/snow with a pedestrian in front. Then today, shortly after I’d done that same turn, Subby’s bell rang on me! This time I was the slow one as there was no ice/snow to plough through on my studded tires. We ended up riding back most of the way. No pictures though, sorry (I don’t usually carry a camera).

ParticipantPassed RootChopper this morning by the airport. I held my tongue rather than issue an anti-bent diatribe.

ParticipantI crossed paths with the title character again yesterday evening with the pop, pop, popping of the studded tires. Didn’t see too many other riders out at all yesterday.

Same here.
In contrast, there were plenty out today. Saw arlingtonrider at Hains Pt and I think I may have spotted DaveK/Tim/MB(?) in the distance going for sprint points at the end of one of their laps, and maybe Zanna in Rosslyn.

I passed arlingtonrider as we approached Shirlington and she told me of the masses headed to Hains Point. Still plenty of others out on their bikes in Arlington and Falls Church. It was just too bad I didn’t have a ready supply of Bike Arlington blinkies to hand out because this was the worst ninja infestation I’ve encountered since the fall’s switch from daylight savings time. Also most of the pedestrians/runners were clearly the fair weather type unused to being out at twilight or after dark.
