OneEighth
ParticipantOff2ride sighted heading toward the MVT on 4MR just as it goes under Route 1. I was on Rte 1 when I spotted the helmet and bike. Recognized you from Pete’s photo. Cheers!

ParticipantKrazygl00 spotted me in Shirlington and we had a nice chat about steel bikes. Totally forgot to get a picture!

ParticipantI’ve seen consularrider down at Hains Point twice in the past three days. This morning he was keeping some interesting company–I’d like to hear the story at some point.

And I’d been having such a nice ride.

ParticipantDirt sighting (and chat) at the W&OD/Custis intersection followed by an Eminva sighting just before the Westover playground/I-66 underpass…unfortunately, the second sighting didn’t register until it was too late unless I turned and gave chase, or I would have hollered.
What an awesome number of bike commuters were out today. Had a lovely Cat6 in the morning and again in the evening with some very polite riders. Rarely (if ever) had that much fun even when commuting by motorcycle.

Detained again, Sir? Hope they didn’t use the zip ties on you this time.

Let’s just say we had a slight disagreement on the definition of stop. And this was a first.

ParticipantI’m hoping a taser was not involved.
I’d be happy to contribute to your defense fund. I’m sure there are plenty of us here on the forum who could be character witnesses on your behalf.

And yet the NPS continues to allow very dangerous boardwalk conditions to endanger cyclists (and peds). Those boardwalks are more of a hazard than Idaho stops on Hain’s Pt. 😡
The boardwalk trolls must be on the NPS payroll.

I love my commute!Oh, I didn’t see you! I was trying to be alert but there were so many cyclists out I couldn’t spot everyone. I was trying to get through there before the 5K on the trail began.
I saw someone I didn’t recognize in a Bike Arlington jersey coming east on the W&OD in Falls Church at about 6:45 pm.
There were a lot of bike commuters yesterday and I think there were a lot of cyclists heading for the Fresh Bikes ride in the evening. A very nice day for riding.

Oh no. What are they looking for? Dropped foot?

ParticipantTons of sightings yesterday…
New one was Guy. Camera battery was dead by then, so I couldn’t document it. He was heading home and I was heading to Freshbikes to lighten my wallet.
Ann did part of the Tour de Bikeshops with me last night.
On our way to Bonzai to go dumpster diving. Got a great deal on parts for a yet-to-be-determined fixie project. She also bought me a drink.Had a good chat with The Man in Black, though he was wearing white at the time. Still haven’t figured that out yet.
The OneEighth and only…I saw EricB, who isn’t on this forum, but someone I hadn’t seen in AGES. Weird thing about this was that I recognized him first and said hi. When he rolled past Ann a few moments later, he said, “Hey! That was Pete!”. She laughed.
I saw a flash go by that I later found out was Will. It happened so fast that I didn’t even register who it was. Jetlag is hell.
Last, but not least, I think Ann and I saw Off2ride in the middle of a group of cyclists heading west on the W&OD approaching Falls Church as we were heading West. Can’t be sure, because it happened pretty quickly.
Rock on, people. See y’all soon.

I love it when a law enforcement person suggests that I need to have my foot down in order to come to a complete stop. As a note for future people who may deal with this. I haven’t found a law enforcement person yet who likes it when I ask them if they require drivers to open their door and touch their foot to the ground for 3 seconds at a stop sign.
I hope that helps.
As a side note: Consularrider — If you are a AAA member, one of their benefits is that they’ll post $5000 in bond for you if you’re arrested. That is usually sufficient for minor offenses like being a smart-ass to law enforcement officials during a routine traffic stop.
Best wishes,
Dirt.

Nice to finally catch you at a stop as opposed to blowing by each other on the WO&D. I admit, I was disappointed to be unworthy of a snapshot especially since I was covered in grime from pre and post-work CX romps through LFP… glad it was just the battery and not my filth
