Was that dbb I passed as he hammered up the MVT connector to the IoD this evening? There are not too many beards like that out on the trail. I would have shouted a greeting, but you were gone in a trice.
Indeed it was me. I would agree with Mr. Cannon in his my assessment of my (lack of) willingness to hammer. Even if I were to follow the “Folks using testosterone pathches, asthma inhallers, … Cheating?” thread I am likely not going to get to the hammer point. The two sisters seemed to miss me (I’ve not ridden the loop much in the past several months) cause they encouraged me to linger with them.
Just the other side of Lee Highway, I passed Dickey. His boss must have let him off early. He seemed a bit shocked to see me out that way.
My presence on the Custis today was an artifact of Monday’s flat-fest. When I looked at the tire that flatted, it was squared off and probably only had a couple of hundred miles left. Rather than fix than replace in the immediate future, I called Bikenetics and ordered two new Gatorskins (the old ones lasted about 4K miles). Rode out after work to pick them up. On the ride back with the tires strapped to my backpack a fellow cyclist commended me for my choice of tires.
Note: My choice of Gatorskins for the road bike and Schwalb Marathons for the hybrid is a direct result of the advice everybody on the forum has offered. Thanks to you all!
